The Reds have claimed off waivers from the Padres IF/OF Patrick Kivlehan and transferred to the 60-day DL Zack Cozart (right knee).

C. Trent Rosecrans ‏@ctrent 3h3 hours ago St Louis, MO

Kivlehan will join the team in Cincinnati. He’s played both corner OF spots and IF spots this year

its the free game on mlb.com

Reds strand Peraza.
no score after half an inning.

If Votto is going to make outs, I may as well go to bed now.

Why are Schebler and Phillips out?

Why are Schebler and Phillips out?

Injuries, apparently not too serious.

Bruce with another homer for the Mets, he's now legitimately hot.

Jose Havoc continues to look rock solid at shortstop to me.

I get a minor case of shingles every once in awhile. VERY painful. And I only get it on one small area on one of my fingers. I can't imagine getting it all over my body. That would be excruciating.

Two run single by Duvall.

Lot of mixed emotions tonight. Want to beat Leake and Cards. Delighted Peraza, Duvall with big hits.

But that draft choice thing. . . .

Duvall with a two run flare single. 2-0 Redlegs.

Appears that Kivlehan can hit a bit, nothing great but he appears to be far from a hopeless bat, maybe a nice utility man picked up for cheap

Not to worry. Our bullpen should be in the game eventually.

Disco is walking nearly as many as he's striking out in his 3 starts since the Reds skipped him in the rotation. Just hasn't looked like himself.

Disco K's Moss to end threat. Moss 6 for last 80, that's a big time slump!

Why so quiet in here? I mean, this is a chance to stick a fork in the Cardinals, isn't it?

Speaking of not looking like himself, Votto hasn't hit a ball hard tonight. Pressing?

Three teams are presently ahead of us in draft position, but remember we're playing the Cubbies the last three games, so there is a chance, but I'd rather win. Prospects are just one step away from suspects. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. I'd rather win than gamble...

I loved it.

Loved seeing the double plays being turned --they looked smooth doing so and they weren't super easy plays.

Votto was 0-5 but saw 28 pitches - it was as good as an 0 for 5 can be (there was one at-bat where he walked and they took It away by calling a bad K. I think Votto moved 3 runners over total.

Quick re-cap of defense: Duvall made 2 good plays and gets to the ball quick --I was thinking the other day-- he charges and fields the ball like an infielder --thus often holding runners because he gets the ball in so quick. Runner on 1st -2 out and the runner was running -- the ball was hit to leftfield wall and gathered so quickly that runner didn't even think about going home--many leftfielders would not have been able to hold the runner.

You guys are pretty snarky over what was a pretty mild comment.

I'd rather see the Reds be in the best position to make themselves winners in 2017 and beyond as opposed to that unforgettable, magical, once-in-a-lifetime September 28th win over the Cardinals, who will probably just come back and win the World Series next year.

I don't mind that you guys are happy the Reds won, part of me is too, but you don't have to punch at those of us with mixed feelings.

Not being snarky at all. I really don't know who or what a Faedo is.
http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?P=alex-faedo

Faedo faced one batter over the minimum over four scoreless innings in his first start for USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team, paving the way for a four-hit shutout and a 5-0 win over the Urban Youth Academy Barons of the California Collegiate League at Angel Stadium.

Faedo allowed just two hits, walked none, and struck out five while throwing 33 of his 43 pitches for strikes.

“That’s the first time I’ve seen him live. On tape and TV he looked impressive, but he looks even more impressive in person,” said CNT manager George Horton, who is Oregon’s head coach. “Real simple, clean delivery, nice and easy, and just absolutely filthy stuff. I almost felt sorry for the hitters.”

Faedo, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound Tampa native, flashed a 92-94 mph fastball and a mid-80s changeup, but it was his biting 85-87 mph slider that was his biggest weapon.

He struck out four of his five batters on the slider, and used it to get a heavy dose of feeble swings that led to weak contacts.
