Alway get a little melancholy on these days-part of me can't wait to be done with it and yet I know tomorrow I'll regret that thought. Of course it doesn't help that I'm drowning in a sea of blue (like yesterday).

Refreshing to see De Jesus bat 2nd for 1 last groin punch this season. Hopefully Ross can give up a 40th HR to Bryant to cap everything off.

Saddest day of the year for baseball and Reds fan. You know, Bryan is just like Dusty. He holds on to those who just aren't very good and starts them. Puts them in a position to get on base and they aren't equipped for that. shades of Juan Castro. He Played in 103 games this year! You don't build a team around guys like De Jesus. JMO

You gotta wonder if Phillips has played his last game as a red. If so, despite me wanting him gone, it's a shame it'll end with him hurt. He deserved a better send off.

I have to think Phillips will be back on Opening day.

My only prediction is that Brandon's name will be in the news this winter.

Trade rumors or attempts, negotiations, possible trade veto, maybe no veto. I think the whole BP trade thing will come to a head, maybe a boil.

No way to know how it ends up.

Will Stephenson ever throw strikes consistently? If not, he could be another over-hyped bust of a high draft pick.

Tom Servo
10-02-2016, 03:32 PM
I just KNOW they are going to give Hendricks the NL Cy Young because of his ERA and because he's a Cub. Of course, Grienke had a lower ERA last year but they went with Cubs Arrieta. But this year they will insist Hendricks ERA, even though he won't sniff 200 innings, makes him the clearcut Cy Young.

It should basically be Kershaw's award every freaking year and the writers should be shamed for years to come for ever denying to him.

The Reds have had very few 1st rounders that could be labeled as true busts.

I'm not very hopeful for Robert Stephenson though. Quite simply, he's not good right now.

Giants are winning. That's all I care about. One evil empire down with the Yankees, despite the fact they are somehow able to snatch defeat in the 9th a few times due to their bandbox of a park. I mean if GAP is a bandbox then Yankee stadium is a closet.

Anyways. End the Cardinals season quickly and painfully. I guess the Big Bird Machine will have to wait another year.

Giants with a win today would finish the season on a 4 game streak (all pretty much must win) and would sneak into the playoffs on a bit of a roll. If this happens, is there any doubt they go on and win the WS?

If you dock Hendricks for not getting to 200 innings (fair enough) you gotta dock Kershaw way more for not getting to 150

Reed's initial MLB stint was disappointing to say the least. I'm still on his wagon though. I think he'll end up being a pretty good pitcher.

Reds lead 4-2 bottom 5.
Rays lead 3-2 end of 5.
Braves lead 1-0 top six.
A's lead 3-2 bottom six.

And a bit later on, games more advanced, same scores.

Securing the 2nd overall pick in next year's draft was more important to me than closing out this year with a win. I do; however, pledge my undying loyalty to the first team that effectively ends the Cubs postseason.

The 9th inning of this game was a complete microcosm of the Reds 2016 season. Raisel was one strike away from the save. A veteran catcher doesn't have him in a situation to miss high on a 3-2 count.

I do wonder though... is Inglesias the first Reds pitcher in history to throw the first pitch & the very last pitch of the same season??

Another season has come and gone. Another mark in time. This was a bad season all the way around. I had a lot to get through myself. As some of you know my wife had a very serious heart attack in mid April. It was pretty bad for a few days but she got through it and is doing very well now. That just brought to home more how every day is precious and should be enjoyable as much as possible. You never know when that may be taken away from you. That's the reason I want the Reds to win every time they play. It will give me some happiness for that day. Because you just never know when it will be the last game you will ever see. Lets hope the Reds will be better in 2017 and maybe be more competitive next season.

I am sorry about your wife and hope she continues to heal.

With that said, I cannot agree this was a bad season all the way around. Votto played like an MVP candidate. Some of the young players made major strides. Iglesias looks like a dominant closer. Peraza can hit. Schebs made some good strides, Suarez is looking like a really solid 3B candidate. The Reds drafted Nick Senzel, who looks friggin awesome. Straily was a nice surprise. Disco is turning into a rock solid starting pitcher. Barnhart looks like a nice little player. Lorenzen looks like a solid reliever.

The 2nd half of the season the Reds were above .500. This is a young team that made positive strides.

You constantly talk about not living long enough to see a winner, and I get that, but to quote Arnold: "Relax. You'll live longer."

Sure every bad team has individuals who have good to great seasons. But as a team they were bad and for me that zap the enjoyment of individual accomplishments.
