Oh yeah....Go Reds!

Wow, no TV?

I haven't watched (or listened to) a single game yet this year. I guess the streak will continue at least one more day.

(I haven't missed six games in a row since July 1997, when I was on vacation in London.)

I had to work Monday (Opening Day).
I turned on the TV for Wednesday's game, but the Cavs were on instead.
I had to work Thursday.
I turned on the TV for Friday's game, but the Cavaliers were on AGAIN!
Yesterday we had a high-school softball doubleheader.

So far, I can honestly say that I don't miss it. (Which makes me sad, in a way.)

Gonna present a tough situation to keep Turner with a healthy Mesoraco and Barnhart, I imagine Minnesota might drive a hard bargain for a possible trade knowing the Reds have no real leverage.

In a rebuilding year, I think I'm open to carrying three catchers.

Is there any human being more pathetic on this planet than Doug "Dougdirt" Gray?

Let's review the last two "disputes" Doug and I have gotten into.

The first was that Jung Ho Kang, according to him, would never start at the MLB level and wasn't worth the $3M/yr risk that came with signing him. Of course, he went and compiled almost 7 WAR in his first two years.

The second was me calling Robert Stephenson a bust a full two years ago. Doug, of course, very insistently denounced my posts, saying that because of his "advanced scouting knowledge", he was "obviously right" and that anyone who disagreed were "just amateurs."

It is quite sad how much I have owned Doug just in the short time I was allowed to post here.

I think firm prognostication is silly when it comes to baseball players because none of us have the inside knowledge needed to make accurate predictions. Any predictions that do come true (like one I made years ago saying Jay Bruce would have career numbers closer to Geoff Jenkins than Ken Griffey Jr.) have much more to do with chance than with any special insight any of us have.

As far as I knew they were all still in the minors.I guess I was dating it back to part of last year as well when they started playing .500 ball. But Peraza & Schebler for sure. Turner is pretty OBP oriented from what I recall, and I thought Gennett was as well, but I guess it also depends on what is considered "good" OBP. Mainly it's just nice to see people go up there and try to get on base rather than try to smash every pitch they see out of the park.

That's difficult to quantify but I think you're right. I also think the problem with those teams regarding lack of killer instinct was the personalities of the key guys. Definately didn't say a country mile but looking at the numbers you are correct. They are very comparable. Point still remains that trout is no where near as popular so I don't see any problem with what the Cardinals announcers said. Also, considering the points at which both players played, trout is far better then his competition. There is no one in his class year in and year out. Couldn't say the same for Griffey during the unfortunate Era he played in. That said he is and always will be my favorite player and was amazing to watch back then. Had a star quality that maybe Mike Trout just doesn't have.

Wood has been good so far tis year. Nice to have another arm you can use in blowouts going your way that can close it out and then be used to hold 1-3 run deficits, since Lorenzen and RI cannot pitch in those all the time.

Wide margin, country mile......sounded both the same.

He received a lot of attention his first few years, lots of coverage and love. The playoff issue is the only thing keeping him from being possibly over exposed. I like the Angels
