Ahem...

Oh, and one more thing. Eugenio Suarez is fast becoming my 2nd favorite player (behind Votto). It's not just his production, it's that the time and effort he's put into improving his game is really starting to show. He's worked extremely hard on his defense and is making plays this year that he wasn't making at this time a year ago. I see him only continuing to get better.

What would DET and SF give to have Suarez and Duvall back right now?

I'm pretty much the same. I'm theoretically open to trading anyone, but whenever I see things like "Suarez could be dangled by the Reds this summer" I cringe. Do not want. He's gonna be good.

He's not going anywhere until Senzel is ready, and maybe not even then. I'm still not convinced Senzel won't end up at 2nd.

Nope. When TimeWarner was running things, they had it. But since Spectrum took over, no alternate channel. I called them when the Reds were preempted by the Cavaliers last Friday, and after talking with them for a half-hour, they finally told me there was no alternate feed, and there was nothing they could do. (Even though the program guide says it's supposed to be Reds baseball.)

Was thinking since Peraza likes swinging at everything, maybe batting him 7th or 9th would be better for now. Move Joey to the 2 hole so he sees more fastballs and takes a few pitches so Billy can run. Move Suarez to the 3 hole. Just a thought.

I just cannot comprehend why Votto keeps swinging at the first pitch. He seriously needs a day off.

There's a school of thought out there that thinks he may be trolling pitchers. He swings at everything in order to get pitchers to pitch him differently then he goes back to normal.

Another school of thought thinks he may be trying to prove a point to his critics. They think he should expand his zone to drive in more runs. So he's doing that now and hasn't had much success. Eventually he'll go back to normal and show people what happens when he hits like they wNt him to.

The former I'd think would be great strategy. The latter would be ridiculously petty and I think he's way too competitive to purposefully do less than his best when the games count just to stick it to the media.

My guess is he knows he has a reputation of being patient and that pitchers want to get ahead in the count. So he probably thinks he's going to get the best pitches to hit hard early in the count. And just like that a walk.

No it's definitely the players. The number of pitches per plate appearance has gone up the last 20-30 years and the amount of time between pitches has also increased. The time in between innings hasn't changed a lot.

I read an article from someone who thought commercials were to blame but his limited test showed commercials aren't taking more time. It's time between pitches by FAR that showed the increase.

I went back and watched some 95-96 Nitros not too long ago and the Flair, Arn, Pillman, and Benoit era Horsemen could have been an all-time group if Bischoff didn't work himself into a shoot and let Pillman out of his contract.

I really enjoyed Pillman and Austin as a tag team. I was a big Austin fan before he was Stone Cold. I was ecstatic when he came into WWE and had Ted DiBiase as a manager since babyface Ted was my favorite wrestler when I was a kid. But that combo really didn't mesh well. I was thrilled when he became Stone Cold and was mega-over.

Assuming they are no significant bumps in the road to justify it, the Reds could send Garrett down around the All-Star Break in an effort to "limit his innings". They just gotta get 10 days or so of him not earning service time.

I agree that he needs to be sent down at some point for service time reasons, but if somehow he can maintain an ERA around the 3's it's going to be 100% obvious what they're doing. Which will look especially bad since Williams was adamant that he would not play service time games. This is why I still think he and Rookie (but especially Garrett with his upside) needed to start the year in AAA.
(On the other hand I've enjoyed these starts...)
