Good to see the guy who is second in the league in BA and with the 471 OBP is hitting 7th and the guy with the 253 OBP is in the 2 spot.

Just flip those two guys for a bit.

The next time he's called up. Mes is up Friday, I'm guessing Ervin will go down. And at this point it seems clear Price doesn't intend to start these guys during their cups o' coffee.

...nearly .400 points less in OPS, so Price is obviously playing the old regression to the mean odds. That and he is clearly smarter than all of us so that Q is moot.

The whole idea is to find out what Peraza can do over the course of a full season to determine if he can be a full time player. Platooning him less than a month into the season makes zero sense

He entered tonight at .233/.333/.548.

By Joey's standards, that is struggling.

The only argument to the contrary would be acknowledging the typical JV nitpicking of HRs and RBI.

Who is coming for Peraza? Dilson who is hitting under .200 in AAA?

Who is coming for all of the starters? Reed, Stephenson, Romano, Reed, Davis, etc. are supposed to be the future. Who's coming for Schebler? Winker isn't even slugging .400 in AAA. Senzel is hitting .240 in Florida.

Again, it's a totally small sample size, but it would be nice if any of the young guys were having any success.

April is a notoriously misleading month in baseball. Good starts disintegrate, bad starts lead to hot streaks.

It's a very young team, things will get much better soon in terms of individual performance.

If it's too depressing, people should watch fewer games for awhile.

I also think the Brewers and Cubs are very good offenses and tough on the Reds' unsettled starting pitching.

Last five starts (before tonight):
Feldman 7 IP 1 R
Adleman 6 IP 2 R
Reed 2 IP 7 R
Arroyo 6 IP 2 R
Garrett 3.1 IP 10 R

Yep, Adleman, Arroyo, and Feldman are the brutal ones.

Those guys will have ERA's above 4.50 by midsummer.

Senzel hit his first HR of the season tonight for Daytona, but has been scuffling some with a .243 avg. and around a .630 ops. Salvation may be a few more years in arriving.

You cannot assemble a pitching staff with so many rookies. I said (to myself mostly) that they needed to sign a couple of experienced MLB pitchers and let the kids mature. Everyone wanted to see the kids. Well, after a pretty good start, we see what kids can do. Inconsistency is a given. In the meantime, unwatchable baseball some nights. That not just the pitchers. Peraza and Schebler struggling at the plate has been disappointing. Duvall, too until just now with a long HR. It's going to be a long season.
