1.) Why are you looking at RBI numbers for a leadoff hitter as if they are meaningful?

2.) Why are you already getting yourself worked up over this series?

Need a win tonight as winning game one is always important, if the reds take three of four against Pitt then they would be in decent shape early on in the standings, only two games back right now without a healthy pitching staff.

Pirates almost throw out Hamilton. They had to overturn it via replay. That's a moral victory.

Hamilton's 41st career stolen base against the Pirates. Most against any team. The next closest is 27.

Between the minors and the majors, Schebler has a 71% SB success rate.

Because then the pirates would have intentionally walked Barnhart to get to the pitcher with first base open?

Regardless of near term performance, you have to like Garrett's future as a starting pitcher.

He isn't looking to top 100 MPH. His mechanics and delivery seem pretty easy. He pitches within himself. Yet effective.

Some of these 100 MPH guys - they are dazzling but it's hard to see them lasting in a starter's role without injury.

Thing I like about Duvall is he has easy power. Todd Frazier had it too. They have good power swings, not too much effort, but they are strong and the mechanics are good.

Not perfect players, but I appreciate that aspect. When Frazier hit a routine fly ball, I expected it to go out, and it often did. Similar with Adam.

Little hypothetical for you guys as we wait for Votto to hit a home run in the 9th:

October 1st:

Billy Hamilton has an obp of less than .300

Are you going into 2018 with Hamilton as your starting CF?

This is Hamilton's fourth season with the Reds. He should be traded during the offseason to make room for the incoming freshman class.

With the exception of Votto, Bailey, and Mesoraco (all of whom have already signed long-term contracts), the Reds should not keep any player for longer than four years. Move them out and keep the pipeline flowing.

Ok, so you want a sub .300 bat in the lineup for consistency?

Why? If a player is good, under 30, and cheap? I don't think you ever draw a hard line like that. Judge each player individually

Avoided the game thread tonight as has been my custom this year (except in rare situations), but I'll just say that it's always a pleasure to see the Reds beat the hated Pirates. No longer in last place, they need to win two more to stay out of the cellar. Fingers crossed.

Yes, I get it!

I never said he was any good! I'm advocating moving him, which is what you asked. Or are you in favor of keeping him?

I'm saying that ALL players need to be moved in a timely manner (after four years, max)--good ones, bad ones, and everyone in between.
