I agree that Peraza doesn't need 600 PAs this year and can sit sometimes. He is a much better defender than Gennett, but both Scooter and Alcantara can get some second base time. Peraza obviously has struggled with his hitting.

But the importance of Peraza relates more to shortsop. Cozart is unlikely to remain with the Reds beyond this year. Peraza is the likely successor, at least for awhile.

So it's important that they continue to help Peraza advance, give him ample playing time.

IMO super utility means bench warmer in most cases. But even if it's a viable role, Peraza just turned 23 and it's too soon.
