Wrigley with the wind was a very difficult play. And the high sky caused several issues. I think it's just random difficulties happening in close succession more than a pattern of declining defensive competency.

I heard Pete Rose once say that if Votto had been playing back in the 70's, then someone on the BRM would be taking a seat. (And Joey would be the #3 hitter in the lineup.)

No he has not. After a bad start he has been more productive and looks to be a better option than DeJesus was last year. I don't know what you and the other poster are complaining about when it comes to this years bench other than just like Price that is what You do. I think it's time to end the Arroyo experiment. Heck, it's time to end a lot of pitching experiments. Non-consistent kids and washed up old timers is not a recipe for respectability, even if the FO doesn't care enough the spend a few dollars for at least a serviceable set of starters. The bad luck that sidelined Homer, Disco, and Finnegan should have been a wakeup call that help was needed, but no. I'm pleased with the offense and the kids playing in the field, but was doing something for the fans out of the question? The rebuild was necessary, but not all at once. I have to say that being within shouting distance of .500 is much better than I expected.

It just seems so silly to send people out to get their brains beat out day after day. That is why, during the lost decade, Reds fandom shrunk and all you could watch was the Pirates on television unless you lived in or near Cincinnati. With the resurgence in the 2010-2015 years, the Reds apparel came out once again, and FSO became available. It matters.

Half assing a rebuild just leads to a longer rebuild.
