Brewers have already lost so Reds are within 3 and could be within 2 with a win and a Brewers loss in double header night cap with Cards.

If this team is within 2 games of first after tonight at four games under .500 and 3/5ths of the rotation missing the first three months it may be the most remarkable thing I've ever seen in baseball.

Why would they trade Feldman? Somebody has to pitch. Of course, one option is to forfeit some road games. Hardly would matter.

I'm not convinced they won't renew Feldman for another year. Hopefully not to be the staff Ace, but as a BOR fourth or fifth starter. They could do worse.

I know next year is Marichal, Koufax, Drysdale, and Kershaw, but they still will need a fifth man. Or a depth guy.

He's not a bad pitcher.

You may be right, nobody knows obviously.

But pitchers like Feldman may be unattractive options - until you're faced with actually filling out a rotation.

Then suddenly he's not such a bad alternative.

He has one big advantage - he's durable. He's on the field. If they let him go, Reds may be sorry at some point.

Real, live example as to why I prefer a guy like Winker (high-OBP) to a guy like Duvall long-term. Not singling out Duvall, because as I've stated before I like the guy, but OBP tends to be more consistent in all stadiums. Winker v Duvall is not your best argument. Duvall is hitting about .280 and on track for 70 extra base hits again. Not so sure the Reds want to ditch that.

The idea is not to cut power drastically (Winker v Duvall), but to add all around hitters. Senzel is the obvious case.
