I sure hope Feldman can turn things around vs the Rays..

Cincinnati's starter on Monday, Scott Feldman, has seen a fair bit of the Rays in his 12-year career. Tampa Bay batters have had success against him in the past, combining for a .314 average and a .848 OPS.

Speeding up the game: The answer is simple -- fewer commercials. But that's not going to happen so make any pitcher who enters the game face 3 batters or end the inning.

Walkup music: I could do without it, but I don't have an opinion one way or another on whether it should be kept or should go.

Thom says that all the innings is catching up with the relief corps. I respectfully say, bunk.

Lorenzen is tenth in MLB for relief innings, 31 innings.
Wood is tied for 17th.
Iglesias is 26th.
Peralta is 44th.
Storen 66th.

These guys are well within the normal range of relief innings.

In terms of appearances, Wood and Peralta are tied for 28th in baseball with 31 appearances. Those two have the most on the Reds. Lorenzen and Iglesias are further down the list with 28 appearances each.

As a whole, the bullpen has had lots of mop up innings, true. But the main relievers simply have not been heavily overworked.

There isn't usually this type of dramatic improvement though. Duvall seems on pace to replicate his 2016 when he should have regressed. Scooter had plenty of ABs against righties with Milwaukee, he was never hitting quite like this.

There isn't usually this type of dramatic improvement though. Duvall seems on pace to replicate his 2016 when he should have regressed. Scooter had plenty of ABs against righties with Milwaukee, he was never hitting quite like this.

I'm not 100% sold on either long term, but I have to admit I'm scratching my head on just how they're doing it.

I doubt God Gennett is this good, but I'm pretty sold on Duvall at this point. Still think I would be fine with God being the LH version of a 2nd base platoon if all else fails.

I expect a Gennett/Alcantara platoon at 2B while Cozart is out.

Nasty pitch on the strikeout.

I am not convinced that Lorenzen would succeed as a starter, but I wouldn't hate finding out one way or the other. Still, have to have capable pitcher in the bullpen, so I would probably just leave him there.

Oh I know he's not be like a .900 OPS guy, maybe not even .800, but he's playing way better than he has any right to, to the point where even with regression he's gonna have a career year.

Yeah, in that sense it's not shocking. I pointed out when we got him that he had some favorable comps, but the power output seems so sudden.
