I see Price is going to manage this one like game 7

Exactly the kind of relief usage that posters have demanded for years here.

Get the good reliever up for high leverage spots even if early.

So Lorenzen was warming.

Yeah, the stuff is among the best we've seen all year. I think he could use some AAA time to work on getting out the more veteran-type hitters though.

He's obviously gonna need to throw more strikes, but considering everything he missed was up and away, I have to think that should just be a mechanical tweak.

Homer was younger but the start was pretty reminiscent of Bailey's debut a decade ago IMO. Homer went 5 (and it was no sure thing he'd get there) and gave up 2 runs while walking 4 and struck out 3.

Fastball looks great, changeup has great tailing away movement from Lefties, but has been erratic. Question is: is the erraticness the norm and AA players have been chasing it or is nerves with it tonight?

Peralta throwing 99. I'd say he's fatigued, he's been used very often, but his stuff looks good.

Could be that Wandy's overusing his fastball. Particularly against lefties. It's his best pitch and the hitters know that.

Or maybe more rest would help. Cingrani's a lefty reliever too, use him more.

RiverRat13

There are no Reds relievers in the top 25 in appearances and Lorenzen is the only one in the top 20 for innings pitched. Fatigue isn't the problem on an individual basis.
