I am excited to see Castillo. He pitched well against the Nationals and would have had the win against Strausburg if not for our bullpen. Time to see if that performance was a fluke or if he's legit.

Duvall homers.

You know, I have nothing against Jesse Winker, I hope he has a great career for the Reds.

But it will be difficult to part with Duvall and/or Schebler.

I love the outfield defense on the Reds. One of the things that elevates the Reds defensively is corner outfield play. That play by Schebler was just excellent.

Yes. Milwaukee's AAA team is in Colorado Springs, and his best pitch is a curve (which doesn't break at altitude).

He must have been wrong about the ERA then though, right? I mean 19 homers in 49 innings would come to a 3.48 ERA even if they were all solo shots and he never gave up any other runs.

Maybe some of them were unearned runs (occurring after an error which should have been the third out of an inning).

Or maybe...I don't know...THom was wrong. It's not that that has never happened.

If the scorecards are becoming obsolete, then stop saying who it was hit to (G-6) and start naming the hole it was hit to. Divide the infield up with RF line to 45 feet, and so on. Then note the player that fielded it at that point. So a grounder into the 2 hole that the shortstop fields would be noted as G(2)6-1. I'd even suggest breaking the infield up into 5 wedges that includes a wedge going up the middle.

Scorekeeping rant:

I think the second infielder on the right should be designated the second baseman, regardless of who he actually is. The infield should be 3B-SS-2B-1B, and the outfield should be LF-CF-RF. (If a team brings in a fifth infielder in a late-inning situation, then the infield alignment should be designated 3B-SS-CF-2B-1B.)

Risky game. I'm typically in the front row of the OF and have watched hecklers mercilessly go after players....and more of than not those players shut them up. Angel Pagan was a CF for the Mets and by the 5th inning the heckler simply got up and left because Pagan's plan was dominating the game.

I would submit that if the shortstop (or third baseman) moves into the hole in shallow RF so that he is next to the first baseman, then he ceases to be the SS (or 3B). He is now the second baseman, and everyone else on the infield rotates over one spot (in name).

But the beautiful thing about this particular heckle would be no matter what Braun does, I could say "way to hit another tainted homer, roid boy!"

Not that I would, but he's earned it. The stink he raised after his first failed test and the way he trashed the reputation of the person who administered it was pathetic. He is a terrible human being.

Does make some sense for the Brewers to use Hader out of their bullpen as opposed to letting him get lit up in the Colorado Spring environment.

The Colorado Springs AAA club is expected to relocate to San Antonio in 2019 but will likely not be affiliated with the Brewers, as their contract expires before then.

The AA club currently in San Antonio will relocate to Amarillo.

Ironically, the Brewers' Rookie League club in Helena, MT will relocate to Colorado Springs, but also may not be affiliated with the Brewers as their contract also expires.

I don't see him gaining anymore confidence by striking out Broxton as he would have if his night ended after a 1-2-3 5th. All you did was risk something bad happening.

Not all 100 pitches are the same. It's the stress level. It's how gassed the guy is. It's the amount of effort he's putting forth to send the ball to the catcher. It's how his mechanics are holding up. It's also better left in the hands of the guys who know these kids MUCH more than we do. Price is an ex-pitching coach. Does anybody here seriously think he'll put one of his pitchers in a situation to risk injury more than normal pitching does?

His goal tonight was to pull him after a positive outcome. Confidence gets ignored a LOT around here. It's not just the confidence the kid needs to learn that he can get mlb hitters out, but it's also knowing he's got the confidence from his teammates/coaches the he can get out of a jam.
