No Cozart
And Bryant is back for Cubs.
Good to see Scooter back in there though with fellow lefty bats in Hamilton, Votto, Schebler and Barnhart.
Can't ever remember the Reds having 6 lefty bats in the same lineup so 5 must be the most.

Butler hasn't faced Cincinnati this season, but he did so three times during his time with the Rockies. He went 0-1 with an 8.44 ERA over 16 innings. Reds batters are a combined 10-for-29 (.414) with a 1.259 OPS against Butler, with Joey Votto, Zack Cozart and Adam Duvall a combined 8-for-16 (.500).

Jackson Stephens will face the reigning World Series champion Cubs when he makes his Major League debut on Saturday at Great American Ball Park. Stephens has spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Louisville, where he posted a 4-4 record and a 4.97 ERA in 15 appearances (14 starts).

Might be a lotta runs scored today.
I just hope the Reds can score more than the Cubs.

I've watched a lot of Jackson Stephens starts since the Reds drafted him. I've seen him hit 96 once and I've heard about another time he did it. I've never once watched him sit 94-95 MPH in an inning.

So of course he comes out and sits 95-96 and hits 97 in the first inning he throws in the big leagues. Lol.

When I was a young teen, I knew the hoops coach at Miami. He played a guy more minutes than anyone else, but scored 2-3 points per game. Played what I thought was so-so "D". When I asked the coach why, his response was "he has heart." Well, "he has heart" had a key ball roll off his fingertips, then fouled the guy going out of bounds. Those two plays cost what was then the "Redskins" that game and a shot at getting into the tournament.

I get tired of the "he hustles so much, he deserve to be a starter." Last time I remember fans clamoring for a player to get more playing time was Adam Rosales.

Thanks, I'll take the guys who actually produce and whip your team of "heart" players 9 out of 10 games.

No, you can't use a calculator or a timer or a grid to tell who "has heart." But, if you are a scout or an employee of the team that is with the players in the organization on a day to day basis you should be able to tell the personalities of the players and how they respond to situations and to their teammates. Every player in the organization can play baseball, not every player in the organization has it in him to be a solid teammate in a winning organization. That's why having the right managers and coaches in the organization is important.

It was funny watching Stephens round first after his hit. Freddie Benavides was pointing at the bag and saying, "Right here!"

Congrats to Jackson Stephens upon winning your first big league game. Not many pitchers do that. Hopefully about 200 wins more coming while you are a Red.

Paul Moskau reference!

I heard that. You had to like that if you remember him. Didn't realize it had been 40 years since his debut. Man how time flies.

Today's Joe Nuxhall Star of the Game is Jackson Stephens, who pitched five innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 8 K's and only 1 BB to pick up the win in his major-league debut, and also was 1-for-2 with a 2-run single to drive in the tying and go-ahead runs.

Joe would have really enjoyed this interview!

If you swing a bat, you're dangerous!

At one point, I think I was the owner of approximately 57 Topps 1980 Paul Moskau cards.

The Cubs had runners at first and third with nobody out in the second inning. Stephens fooled Javier Baez on a 76-mph slider, and then got an inning-ending double play when he fanned Albert Almora Jr., also on an offspeed pitch. Barnhart threw out Addison Russell at second on the strikeout to end the inning.

"I was trying to keep a zero on there," Stephens said. "If I gave up one run, I was like, 'OK, get the next guy and we'll get out of this.' Tucker did a great job throwing them out after a strikeout. It was just bang-bang. I got excited. I was fired up. Just helping the team keep a zero on there, I just felt like it gave confidence for the rest of the team."

There isn't much more in the world I like than beating the Cubs and their jackass fans.
