View Full Version : 7/17/2017 Reds vs Nats DAY Game

Reds try to salvage a game with the Nats today at 12:30 pm. This is the Free Game of the Day on MLBTV. No FSO TV today. Only available through the Nats and MASN. So you will get the honor of hearing Bob Carpenter and Ray Knight call the game. My advice is turn the volume down.

So Schebler is playing CF yet Winker still sits after a hit and 3 walks yesterday. It really is tragic.

Must be team policy to put an almost automatic out at the top of the order.

Had to know that Scooter would get the start against Strasbourg today (who he as been owning), but that outfield D is scary.

Bill has to sit sometime, don't have a problem with that on my end.

But the configuration is definitely odd. Just play Winker and Scooter, in position, and sit Peraza against the tough righty.

Getting 3 walks in a game is unaccetable behavior apparently. Clearly he was trying to show up "other" teammates.

The Reds will have three catchers because they want to avoid losing Turner. He is a Rule five player and they cannot send him down without offering him back.

They wouldn't cut loose a healthy Barnhart or Mesoraco.

So they will have three catchers.

Who cares about the roster spot? What possible difference could Turner's roster spot make?

The team has a 6.04 starting ERA coming into today, and now it's even higher with a bad start today.

How is anybody going to fix that critical pitching problem with the 25th roster spot?

Reds are quite properly protecting Turner, a young catcher with hitting potential, rather than losing him.

Not sure what it means that three catchers "looks bad." The Reds have a reason for it, makes sense under the circumstances. Next year they will be free to keep Turner in the minors.

And Turner's roster spot is not why the Reds are non-competitive. They are non-competitive because they have no pitching.

If he's going to be on the team play him every once in a while. Today would have been the perfect opportunity. It's obvious they know he's not a MLB player and have decided to let him ride the bench ala Bill Plummer of the 68 Cubs.
