Miami is similar to the Reds. They have a strong offense, good field players, but no pitching.

Two things I always liked about Bailey.

1. Great mechanics. Uses his legs, finishes his pitches beautifully.

2. When pitching well, gets stronger late in the game. Very rare today when guys commonly fade after six innings.

Very exciting for Reds fans that Homer is back, looking for two good seasons from him as he finishes his contract.

Good play by the Marlins, but a bunt by Billy would score a run, get the lead run in scoring position for Cozart, and they might get lucky and all runners are safe.

And the possibility of bases loaded, one out with Hamilton up was made exceedingly possible by Price's bunt decision.

Nah.

The 2003 Detroit Tigers went 43-119

To put this in perspective, the 2017 Cincinnati Reds have 40 wins on July 21st.

I rest my case. No judgment or awareness of anything except what he's watched other managers doing.

The guy you want to drive the ball for at least a SF grounds out to a guy playing halfway and of course you know the rest. Offense may not be a problem this year but since the AS break its not exactly helping much either.

Great decision by Price. I'll give Price credit for one thing he helps the Reds get a higher draft pick every year.

I'm really sick of Hamilton leading this team in at bats. Either put him 8th or 9th in the lineup, bench him, or trade him.

He is simply not good enough at getting on base to lead the team in plate appearances. It's a complete joke and something smart teams would NEVER do.

Should at least be able to get a decent scratch off ticket for Storen at the deadline.

It may not be great strategy but it was still based loaded 1 out. The other day it was bases loaded no outs. Nothing.

Situational hitting is definitely a problem, starting pitching is the major problem.

I've always liked LaRussa's idea of pitcher batting 8th and Billy is a perfect #9 hitter in that scenario. When you have 9,1,2 starting an inning, the P batting 9th hamstrings the inning so much!

Duvall swings at a lot of pitches out of the zone. The same low outside slider Frazier couldn't lay off of.

Whenever a team has terrible pitching, at some point the hitting goes south. And vice versa, when a team has no hitting, eventually the pitching slumps.

Too much pressure on one side of the ball.

Eventually the offense views every game as an uphill climb and starts to press.

So Reds aren't hitting now, which just makes things worse.

It's not just the strategy...it's the fact the Reds have a 300 obp hitter with 0 power getting the most plate appearances on the team. It's infuriating.

Tonight's Joe Nuxhall Star of the Game is Marlins starter Jose Ureņa, who pitched six innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 4 K's to get the win, and also was 1-for-2 with a double.

The rest of the series looks like Sunday gives us the best chance against Kohler (7.92 ERA). Of course, with Urena tonight coming in with a 4+ ERA, we sould have won. Funny how that works along with having the based packed three times. Funny how that works
