A bigger problem is that there are 23 pitchers on the 40-man roster (not including five more on the 60-day DL), and there are three players on the 40-man who are on either the 10-day DL (Feldman) or the minor-league 7-day DL (Astin and Herrera). The only active position players on the 40-man roster who aren't already with the Reds are all outfielders (Winker, Ervin, and Aquino).

7. Jose Peraza (SS)

Venezuelan shortstops typically get labeled as light hitting but slick fielding. While I would put Jose Peraza defensive ability as solid average, he does have a nice hitting profile that starts with a nice quick compact swing and great contactability. In 206 at-bats across two Rookie levels, Peraza struck out 25 times. He also grades out as a 70 runner on the 20-80 scouting scale. One scout I spoke with was convinced that Peraza’s bat would play in the majors and that power would eventually come.

You're right... Bat isn't panning out either...

You are overplaying your hand. The Orioles would kill for Castillo in their rotation. White Sox, Phillies, Giants, Padres, Rangers, Braves, off the top of my head. Right now. Tomorrow. As fast as they could. Your overall point is valid, but no reason to make it absurd.

Guess what all those teams have in common....

I'm not saying Castillo is a poor prospect. He's a very good prospect in fact. But he's not in a rotation that has any semblance of decency as of today. On those squads, he's still in the minor leagues.

Sure. Keep telling yourself that any decent pitching staff would have Sal Romano or even Luis Castillo in it today if it makes you feel better.

Next year? Maybe. Right now? Nope.

I never said they Castillo would start for a playoff team but you said why team that's a big difference.

Might as well trade Iggy. By the time this team is relevent again, Iggy won't be.

It's a shame he can't start...reportedly. He has true ace potential IMO.

Defense letting Homer down, but following along on gameday, the lack of Ks today is kinda a bummer. Watching live, any reason he hasn't gotten any? No good put-away pitch today, or have the Yankees just been early count aggressive?

Yankees have a lot of guys that shorten up with 2 strikes really avoiding the K

How in the world would that be implied based on what you typed? "Any" is a pretty simple and definitive term. If you had really meant what you didn't come close to saying you could have just typed "any good team..." but you didn't. Also, making a dig on my intelligence isn't going to get you anywhere and makes it even more obvious you realized you were caught with your pants down. You made an absurd statement and got called out for it. Just own it.

It was implied. Obviously a crap team will be happy to have anyone who's inexpensive and has a pulse. I thought that's as I said, obvious.

Even so, I amended it. Freely. Openly. Easy to see. Even with that I still get the "Were those your exact words Greg?" So yeah, forgive me if I question the ability of some to comprehend.

"This team hasn't quit on price"

As they cointinue to get blugeoned night in and night out

Here's how it plays out.

Reds starting pitching fails, Reds hitters shut down by quality pitching.
Reds get behind big, opponent brings in their chaff to close the game out.
Reds get a few charity, meaningless runs in late innings.
Everyone talks about 'this team never gives up, this team is never out of a game, blah blah blah'.

Geez, the Yankees really have retired a lot of numbers. They have #74 at 2B, #77 in RF, #85 now pitching, and #99 as their regular RF (getting today off).

I think the Yankees have retired all numbers between 1 and 9. High numbers will be the norm for them now. That's what happens when you win more World Series than anyone else.
