Yeah, I totally understand why you say that but unless he's hurt you have to let him keep pitching. In Johnny Vandw Meer's 2nd no hitter, he walked 8 guys. This bullpen has been taking a beating and pulling a guy after 2 or 3 innings isn't going to help matters.

Fair enough, but I think one of the problems is that more and more on-deck batters are setting up almost directly behind home plate. It's happening often enough that I'm sure it's becoming an issue with the umpires (at least some of them). It may give the on-deck batter an edge in timing the pitcher, it might distract the pitcher, and it also could be a safety issue.

I graduated from high school in 1988. I didn't discover 60's & 70's rock until I went to college at Ohio University. I still like 80's music, but my favorite is classic rock from the late 60's and 70's, and I feel like I'm always learning and discovering more about it.

The obscure garage bands and songs. You could form a band now and just take from here and there and not too many people would know who you were ripping off. Power pop and Mod bands like the Creation and Small Faces. The Nazz. Several bands in the 80s made a decent living channeling the 60s. It would be like basically like Green Day ripping off the Buzzcocks. Stiff Little Fingers. The Jam.

I enjoyed picking through Rhino records in the early 80s for their backlog of records when their store was in the Claremont college area. I have no idea if they are still there. I was heavy on punk though and they had sine good stores for records and imports in Pasadena.

It really is just a slump. Even the BRM had for them a few weeks that they barely hit but it was so rare since only half the team would slump and the other half could overcome it. Here if Votto Duvall slump there is no one else to compensate for what they can produce.

Any thoughts, opinions or insight on where the Reds offense has gone since the ASB? Even Votto who should be heating about now is in a funk, perhaps his slump has effected everyone else, maybe it's contagious. The last three years the Reds have been under the "curse of Dusty," which turns prospects into walking (ball 4 type of walking) Zombies. :beerme:

Mental fatigue?

You know, WV, it could be. They could be pressing from a first half trying to overcome horrible pitching.

But I'm just a fan, it's impossible to watch this, so few competitive games.

Maybe they will score this inning, two men on.

The offense will come back but in the meantime it's brutal. Fire Price. Eat at Arby's.

Maybe it's just me sinking into nihilism, but I don't even know about that. The offense being great was kinda predicated on Duvall & Schebler not being out machines, Geno being a 900+ OPS guy, Cozart being the best SS in the league etc.

And I would count on none of those things continuing going forward.

I would hope for Schebler to get hot again and somebody buy into him being for real and trading a legit prospect for him. I still think he's a 250/300/450 type of guy when the dust settles.

Duvall too, but for some reason I feel like they would get less for him.

I'd still trade them both.

Duvall and Schebler weren't going to keep being .875 OPS guys but they're not as bad as they look right now.

Yeah not this bad for sure but still 800ish OPS guys with low OBPs. imo

They still both play good D, so that's definitely useful. But if they can get something back they should. I think Winker will be better than both.

The call on the 1-1 pitch to Tucker was terrible, not only did it make the difference between 1-2 and 2-1, it made him have to swing at the next pitch out there which was a little farther out(just like you'd expect the pitcher to do if the ump is going to call them out there) and hit a weak grounder for the final out with the bases loaded. Bring on electronically called balls and strikes and put an end to the most unfair aspect of baseball officiating!

You know what happens when you assume? Votto not being fast is no secret. I'd imagine even Billy is going to be going a little slower rounding third when he's going 1st to home. It's just natural.

If only I knew anything about running.

It was the correct play once it didn't bounce back to the LF...assuming he is healthy

The timing of it all just makes it hard to believe he couldn't get home. He is shake your head slow. Crazy he could barely get from a secondary lead at first to home plate in under 12 seconds.

You know its a bad game when you give out most of your post likes to 60's and 70's music references instead of the actual game. :)

Stephenson just isn't a MLB pitcher right now. But if they want to keep sending him out there the rest of the season its fine by me. Maybe by then we will know if he can be a part of the team next season.

This really looking like a 100 loss season now. If the hitting doesn't pick back up soon there will be very few wins the rest of the season.
