Tonight is the 10th Fireworks Friday of the 2017 season, presented by TriHealth. The postgame fireworks show, featuring Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks set to a soundtrack of current hit songs, will begin approximately 15 minutes after the conclusion of tonight’s game. The fireworks show will take place during setup for our postgame concert featuring FLO RIDA, presented by The Ohio Lottery. The 60-minute FLO RIDA concert will begin following the conclusion of fireworks.
This weekend is the 45th annual GE Weekend with the Reds. Thousands of GE employees and their families will join us for the games and pregame ceremonies over the next 3 days.
Also during pregame ceremonies we will welcome the teams participating in the 25th annual Major League Baseball RBI World Series.
Tonight is the 3rd Military Appreciation Day of the 2017 season, presented by DAV — Disabled American Veterans — and Hankook Tire. The Reds will be wearing their digi-camo uniforms tonight.
Prior to the singing of our National Anthem we will pay tribute to Reds Hall of Famer, Lee May, with a Moment of Remembrance. Due to the 6:40PM start time of tonight’s game, the National Anthem will be performed at 6:28PM.

A stat to keep in mind tonight:

It drives me crazy that Reds announcers say a guy was "drafted #1" when they mean "was a first round pick". The former makes it sound as thought they were the #1 overall selection.

Bad play by Peraza, underestimated Leake's speed and got burned.

No way that should be ruled a hit. Could have had him easily at first, but chose to take two looks at the runner coming home. Should be a fielders choice, just like it would have been if he threw home and didn't get the runner because he slid in safely. Leake getting thrown out by Billy got the inning back to where it would have been with no misplays.

Is it me or did Jose Peraza make 3 poor defensive plays in the 2nd inning?

His poor decision to wait to throw to first is the obvious one.
Then he didn't hold the tag on Leake when Leake tried to tag up. Luckily Leake was already out but he overslid the bag and Peraza should have held the tag on him just in case.
Finally he strangely called off Suarez at the last second on the pop up to end the inning.

I've said before I see his teammates shooting Peraza dirty looks on occasion. I think Peraza is out there doing his own thing no matter what anyone else on the field is doing or what the situation calls for. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Reds attempt to trade him this winter.

I'll cut him some slack on the tag of Leake at 2nd, because why would you continue to hold the tag after the umpire calls him out? (Correction: it was Gennett who took the throw.)

But the other two were definitely bad plays. I have a feeling that Geno might take him aside and straighten him out, especially on the miscommunication on the popup.

I appreciate what Billy brings to the table defensively but on offense he really is pretty useless overall. It makes me feel dirty lumping him in with those others.

I mean if he is our CF I can't argue with what you say, he has to hit somewhere, I just wish he wasn't in the lineup.

Sorry to be down on him.

I've suggested a Billy+Stephenson to the Marlins for Yelich trade. I get your point too. But I don't think Billy is useless out there.

Tucker Barnhart is huge for this team.

He was safe.

Thom to his kids and their friends:

"Hey gang! What is up!?! Who's got the 411?!? Okay well I'm gonna head up to the broadcast booth, you homies keep it chill, alright?!"

This is what I've been saying. Tucker+Mez is a great catching tandem and the Reds would be dumb to break that up anytime soon.

I want to break Meso out of it ASAP. He's had 5 plate appearances in the last 8 games, hitting .218 for the year and being paid over $21 million for 2017/18. They aren't keeping Turner on the roster for no reason. Hopefully they can trade him and some of his salary away. Tucker is way better on defense, calling the game, and much more consistent and reliable on offense. If I could get rid of half of Meso's remaining salary, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

You also know that THom is obsessed with being the "cool dad".

THom tries to bully Cowboy into singing "My House". Cowboy declines.

THom then pressures Jim Day into doing it. JD says if THom ponies up the royalty fees, then he'll sing all night long. THom backs off.

Thom should have tried getting the bird to sing it.
