The first 20,000 fans in attendance today will receive a Raisel Iglesias bobblehead, courtesy of Penn Station. Gates to the ballpark are scheduled to open at 5:10PM for Season Ticket Members and 5:40PM for the general public. However those gate opening times could be adjusted in accordance with Cincinnati Fire Code should the crowd size outside the gates dictate it so.
The 45th annual GE Weekend continues today with pregame ceremonies and festivities.

Looking forward to seeing Castillo pitch tonight. I wasn't able to catch his 8 inning masterpiece last week, hopefully tonight is just as good.

All I'm gonna say on the matter...

Castillo went 8 IP last time, 100+ pitches.

I'd hope he just goes about 90 P tonight if pitching well. I'd really like to keep him pitching well the last 2 months.

Agreed. He threw 100 or more pitches only twice in his minor league career, and they both came this season in Pensacola. Price has had him go 100 or more pitches in 5 of his 8 starts so far. I want the throttle eased off, big time.

He's averaging 101 per start.

Yeah, like Tom said...in the minors he was only over 100 twice.

I'm cautious but certainly not a pitch count monster...but every once in awhile my gut says it's time to go into a start ready to ease things up for a night.

I though I tuned into a baseball game...

THom is trying to bully Jim Day into riding a unicycle on camera. Says that Jim Day is a self-proclaimed "expert".

JD corrected him, saying he never called himself an expert, but that he was pretty good at it as a kid.

THom says this is becoming a "Johnny Cueto video" level of myth.

JD says he never said he would ride one on TV, and he doesn't even own a unicycle anymore.

This compared to Meso's pathetic attempt to put the ball in play with the runner moving on a 3-2 count with none out. In former times that would be a big black mark against the hitter, but in modern days the hitter does not try any differently to put the ball in play than if he wasn't running on the pitch, and if he fails, no one blames him, just the manager gets the blame for taking the risk!

Mechanical breakdowns aside, this game shows why Castillo is heads and shoulders above the rest of the young Reds pitching crop we've seen so far.

If the Reds put Mesoraco thru waivers and someone claimed him I would not cry if the Reds just let him go.....spending big on catching is dumb anyway when the SP is in shambles

He should have been on waivers the last 2 months with his contract. Is there a limit how long you can be on waivers?

When the Bryan fans have asked why he should be let go, my response has been: Because it will make me feel better. Now I have a second reason- because it will keep him from ruining the small amount of young talent we already have.

It's him or Blake Wood. They are not using Lorebzen again. Not sure what you expect sometimes ?

I'd go with experience, though I agree it might have been worse. Forgot about Lorenzen pitching yesterday (and me being critical of him). Having Castillo go out for the 7th was the sin,

The Shack has good stuff. He did pretty good considering the mess. Not sure the vitro like on him but I think a lot of people are just ready to blast anyone not named Iglesias unless they have ERA well below 3 if not 2. Price was wrong to out him out there. He looked great though after 1 hitter and he had wong down 1-2. Really he never lost his stuff except for the HBP. He was still throwing good but That Bobs Big Boy look alike pulled a good pitch in the whole after the Wong ab.

Not that I know squat about squat but Mes seems to have terrible balance at the plate....falls across the plate after most swings and ends up taking that little walk thru the LH box and around behind the umpire....maybe it's just that incredibly full effort swipe he takes

That is what you can do when you have 3 catchers on the 25 man and all three are healthy enough to play and Tucker doesn't start.

Tony Cloninger

That play at the plate he was safe. Shack tagged the wrong leg as he was out of balance and that's all he could tag. Not sure what the complain about that call or IR is. But every game there is more whining about IR than Price. And that's saying something.

And he should back off that fullness when its 3-2 and the runner is moving with none out!

Always amazed at how poor the Cards' defense is the last decade. Superior alignment during LaRussa's days masked their general slowness but it's really shown up the last few yrs., or maybe it's just the randomness of a round ball and rounded bat..but they are slooooow.

Tonight's Joe Nuxhall Star of the Game is Cardinals RHP Lance Lynn, who pitched 6 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 4 K's to get his 10th win of the season.

(I'm sure Joe would talk to him about the Brownsburg, IN connection with Tucker Barnhart and Drew Storen.)

With MLB At Bat on my iPhone all the time. Thom is bad, but I guarantee you there are plenty of really bad ones--worse than Thom--out there. While traveling at night, I sometimes seek out a ballgame and some of the announcers are just unlistenable. The guy in San Diego may be the worst.
