First, that was a bad play by Kivlehan.

Second, the outfield corners at Wrigley are very difficult to play, especially for a relatively inexperienced outfielder. There are only about six inches of foul territory between the foul line and the brick wall.

Fair points. However, none of that made him jump for a ball that would have simply landed in his glove.

True, but there have been a lot of corner outfielders who have been made to look foolish by Wrigley Field.

Read on Red Reporter a very discouraging opinion that said if the Reds didn't expect to compete next year, they would pick up his option. Even if the Reds stay pat, Having Bryan o the bench means a lot of extra losses. Don't they realize that?

And that's part of their genius. I think Walter White would luck into more positive outcomes than Price.

I like this site very much but great ceasers ghost what the hell is the issue. Is Price in charge of the IT department here?

Only the third time in Reds history that the Reds have had five players with 20+ HR's:

1956:
Frank Robinson (38), Wally Post (36), Ted Kluszewski (35), Gus Bell (29), Ed Bailey (28)

2008:
Adam Dunn (32), Edwin Encarnacion (26), Joey Votto (24), Jay Bruce (21), Brandon Phillips (21)

2017:
Joey Votto (31), Adam Duvall (27), Scott Schebler (23), Eugenio Suarez (20), Scooter Gennett (20)

Sure he was horrible against them in both the minor leagues and his first several years in the majors but obviously his last 12 ABs are representative of the real Scooter Gennett against lefties.

Jeez.

Yeah, his splits in the majors definitely showed him getting the at bats to say. He's never played in MLB with the ability to go 0-4 vs a lefty and be put out there again. Not like a player at a prime age can't improve or adjust at all either. Sorry, Peraza won't get 725 PA...his 500+ will have to do this year. Maybe next year he can be everyday SS.

I know that's Scooter's line but it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Two HRs don't change his career performance.

No, not really. I'm as loyal to this team as the rest of you. It's not easy watching a team suck enough to lose at the rate they have for years. I have kept a close eye on Scooter's at bats vs lefties. He looked clueless in June when given opportunities but the last few weeks his at bats have been very good. He has been successful in those games. Maybe he goes 1 for his next 8 with ridiculous looking swings and Paul Janish contact....but he looks just fine right now vs lefties and not bad lefties either.

What is Scooter? Well he's an average OPS guy over his career and not great on defense. His first year the league didn't know him and he had good season....next year league caught up some and last couple years he hasn't adjusted back (if he has the ability).....but hell he is 27 and sure has adjusted to something. He isn't a .930 OPS vs righties over his career either. Are we not surprised that he kept it going after his 4 HR game? He's been a guy that has been good at the plate for this terrible Reds team. He's at worst a pleasant surprise. He keeps going and I'm going to keep bringing it up....it's a positive thing. In too small of sample he's looking much more comfortable. I won't wear it out but I've been watching and not betting my house on him being a 124 OPS from here on out, but he's in best shape of his career and is a perfect age to be hitting his prime. Guess I'll just keep watching.
