Really? He was a catcher so he has to have a decent arm. But why run someone with a bad knee and calf on a ball 200 feet from home? Then there's that old baseball adage: Never make the first or last out at 3rd or home.

Seriously, I can't defend this coaching staff - on a macro basis - any more. This is just not a fundamentally sound team. Barnhart's a good catcher but failed twice in a game at getting a bunt down and tonight swings at a 3-0 pitch off a guy who has poor control. I'm not even sure why Hamilton tries to bunt any more when he obviously can't do it. He steals bases on pure speed and not on reading pitchers or getting good jumps. I love Votto but when he's on base, sometimes it appears that he doesn't know what he's doing. I don't want to harp on bunting but hardly any of the pitchers can get a bunt down when other teams' pitchers seem to have no problem. Mistake after mistake is made and they are usually the same ones. Getting beat due to lack of talent is one thing but getting beat because of mistakes is another.

Very unconventional, off balance. I am very surprised he doesn't do worse than he does making plays. Matador swipes at balls hit his way saves him from being charged with deserved errors. Worst 4 defensive players on the team(not counting pitchers) are Votto, Mesoroco, Winker(mostly due to speed), and Gennett. Votto's baserunning is three times as bad as his defense.

So there's an ad on the site that shows Tom Brady and says, "Patriots Upset With Him: After winning the Super Bowl, the Pats are still upset with him about this."
I seriously doubt the Patriots are upset with Brady about ANYTHING!
Well that's certainly deflating

Some people just sweat a lot. Our star power forward when I was in high school sweated so profusely that nobody wanted to play defense against him.

So we need at least two baserunners and no outs on the basepaths to give Votto another shot.

Yeah, I know and he's never been a dry guy out there pitching...but this year seems more. Oh well, good news for him to lose 9 lbs every game.

Our center in 6th grade was like that. After FTs there was a pool of sweat where he was standing.

For sure not if its just tied. If in the lead, depends how he feels, but no more than for an out or 2 if there is deep trouble.

The contact Ervin made on his HR looked like the ball was going out of the stadium.
Duvall's contact on his looked like a weak fly out.
That speaks to the power of each.

I predict that a Votto misplay will end the streak.
If Peralta pitched two innings recently, I don't recall it.
Next season, Reds need five or six good relievers, not three or maybe four.

Bases loaded and no outs in the 1st: 1 run
Bases loaded and one out in the 2nd: 0 runs
Give up a run because you didn't get the ball accurately back into 2nd on would-be TOOTBLAN
Let a pitcher steal a base
Lose on a walk-off wild pitch

I prefer picking up a couple of good starters that can actually go 7 or 8 innings and not have to rely on the Woods, Brices etc... of the world.

It's a great example of a how woefully ill equipped with talent this team is. The contrast is stark wen viewed against the top team in our division. We kept running guys out there who couldn't even make the Cubs roster of 25. "Perhaps" Peralta but that's it. Bailey, Wood and Shackelford wouldn't. I won't even go into the lineup differences. Peralta doesn't have the command he had earlier in the yr. He's nothing more than the last man standing on a team that lacks LH pitching
