cincyinco
08-25-2017, 08:31 PM
Hits a wall? Billy catches that and the inning is over. The infield hit is 5 feet to the right, maybe Cozart gets it. Baseball is a funny game.

And if he IS hitting a wall, maybe if the Reds hadn't jerked him around in the pen so badly for the first half of the year, endurance wouldn't be such a factor.

You watch a young starter strike out 9 batters and immediately call to put him in the bullpen. Can't relate.Sorry you disagree with my unprofessional analysis, but you can strike out 27 and still lose 10-3. He was moving right along and then hit a wall. Not a deal breaker at all, but he still needs some seasoning, in my very humble opinion.

WVRedsFan

Interesting inning. bases pretty much loaded throughout and you expect Stephenson to not help, then you get Billy who strikes out and finally Cozart also fans. I still contend that batting Billy leadoff is a huge error. When he gets on, he's lethal, but if not, he looks hapless at the plate. Out one, out two, and the usually reliable Cozart, out three. Got two runs thanks to a wild pitch (thanks, Buccos). Not a big deal, but I fear they will need the runs they left on base before the night is over.

Lot of similarities between Duvall's swing and Frazier's. Excellent mechanics, they use the body well to power the swing. Easy power.

I think Schebler's power swing has improved over this season. He really can put a charge into it. Swing is getting more like Duvall's, just from the left side.

Don't get this. Tim came in with bags full, two outs, sixth inning.

He struck the batter out. Ended the threat.

If you would have brough in any other pitcher, the result could not have been better.

Iglasias has now thrown 64 innings this year with 5 weeks to go. Which means hes on a pace to easily surpass anything Ko Ko or Chapman ever did on teams which were in pennant races. Not sure what the point is. Is part of the rebuild to overwork your young talented closer?

I didn't make a big deal out of it. Someone else did, Kc. I made an observation using stats. That's all.

Right - not everything needs to be a huge debate. Everyone knows Adelman kind of sucks and as a fan on a game thread it's an easy thing to point out when the bullpen is not deep enough to have a number of better options forcing guys like this in the games.

Sometimes a counter point derailing the discussion isn't necessary on a simple observation.

Is it overworking him? I don't know what the league average IP is for a reliever but didn't people complain that Chapman wasn't used enough?

Every player on the team is either overworked or underused. Every. Single. One. If Price plays him regularly, he's overworked. If Price sits him, he's underused. Just the way it is.

Welcome to RedsZone, by the way.
