The only TV is through the Mets network. Which isn't a bad thing if you can get around the black out restrictions.

Barnhart is on paternity leave and Wallach was brought back up. Probably for the rest of the season too.

Looks like Reyes led off with a double, advanced to third somehow, and was driven in with a sac fly by Cabrera.

Also, isn't it officially "Bob Stephenson" now? Still says Robert on the lineup graphic.

Reds go out in order their half of the 1st. 1-0 Mets.

DeGrom looks sharp. Votto was choked up halfway up the bat. Stephenson gave up a leadoff double, then the Mets moved him home on outs.

Stephenson struck out Nimmo on full count pitch to end first, onto the second.

Two on for Mets, single and walk. Bottom of order coming up, but Stephenson not sharp so far today.

Lagares fans, one out. Tyrone fans, two out. Pitcher flies out.

Stephenson having success with his breaking pitch to last three hitters.

First and third, one out.

Tie game on single by Nimmo, liner off Stephenson. Votto looked around for a play and couldn't get back to first In time, so Nimmo safe.

Stephenson throwing to make sure he's ok.

Smith Ks, 2-2 bottom three.

Peraza K's after fouling off a bunch of pitches.

Peraza called out on a close pitch after an 11-pitch at bat. Peraza unhappy with call.

Votto hit a grounder, error made, Hamilton runs, 3-2 Reds.

Shortstop threw to third on that play, didn't work out, could have had Votto easily if he just threw to first.

Now, first and third, hit by Suarez.

Reds up one run, first and third, one out, Gennett coming up.

Bottom four, Reds up one.

Hamilton pops out, 3-2 after four, Reds up one run.

Two outs in top five, none on, BobSteve with six Ks now in the game.

Full count on Nimmo. Stephenson with 78 pitches. Strike three.

7Ks through 5 innings, Reds up 3-2.

Kc61
08-31-2017, 02:05 PM
Stephenson's out pitch this game seems to be his breaking stuff. Setting them up with fastballs, getting the K on breaking pitches. At least that's how it looks on TV.

Through five, BobSteve with 2 earned runs allowed on five hits, 7 Ks, 2 BBs.

Scooter doubles in Peraza, 4-2 Reds, bottom five. Now Schebler gets IBB.

Peraza had stolen second after his walk, two out double by Scooter was well hit off the right field fence, seemed like it might go out of the stadium.

4-2 Reds after five, as Kiv flies out.

I perked up when Hurdle said he threw the best slider he had seen in awhile. But bear in mind these Mets aren't murderers row.

I said back in ST that his secondary stuff is better than what the other young guys have. Still true, with the exception of Castillo's change up. The narrative around Stephenson has never been very nuanced, and has failed to acknowledge that the swing-and-miss stuff is unmistakable.

Votto gives his bat to a young fan after homer.

Before coming to bat in the bottom of the 7th, Votto pointed to Walter -- also known as Superbubz -- a young fan sitting in the front row that is stricken with a rare disease known as neuroblastoma.
After Votto homered, he came around and high-fived Walter before giving him his bat.
Before the game was over, Votto also changed into a new uniform top and gave Walter his game-used jersey, too:

After learning that Walter's parents said that the gift meant the world to the young boy, Votto told MLB.com's John Fay, "That's all that matters."
