He was spot on about the talent thing.

Talent is the innate ability to apply skill effectively in a given situation. Talent magnifies skill, which means if you've got a 10 on a 1-10 talent scale, and you work your butt off refining your skills, you're going to be successful. Just have to relax and allow that talent to do its work when the time comes.

Gee, I think the reason why Ted Williams didn't get 3,000 hits wasn't because he walked so much it was because he missed the better part of 5 seasons serving in the military. Williams had about 2,650 career hits. He averaged 178 hits a season. Do the math.

Stephenson saved by some DPs, walked a few too many tonight.

The walk to Neil Walker wasn't good, with Braun on deck should have come in. Maybe was nibbling, maybe overthrowing, maybe just a little wild.

Still, he's a very talented pitcher and I'm glad he's pitching better now. You hate to see stuff like that go to waste.

7 K's but 5 BB's thru 6 shutout innings.

That was Stephenson's pattern in the minors. He definitely walked too many but, if I recall, he allowed just over 7 hits per nine innings. He's very tough to hit, very good prospect. Doug always said he has a great arm.

Kc61

2-0 Reds, Suarez RBI.

I'm guessing Stephenson comes out for the seventh, hope not, I'd remove him. Not on pitch count, on high leverage outing.

Brewers seem to mess up a lot of plays defensively for a team doing so well.

I see what you are saying but those are minor league hitters and he was giving up too many HRs. I've never abandoned Bob's potential but there's no real retroactive shining up of his 2014 and 2016 seasons, they were fairly poor.

I wish Thom were trolling but he's not.

1. Batting average
2. Runs scored
3. Hits
4. Total Bases

Jose Ramirez is an outstanding player and flying up the MVP race chart in the AL...but Thom didn't tell the story very well

That was just great pitching by Inglesias to walker: Multiple locations, multiple kinds of pitches, many different speeds.

I remember when that was fun for about a week back in 2012.

The act that it's still happening all these years and all these losses later is just embarrassing.

It's a damn shame that he can't be a starter. If anybody has the full arsenal that a successful starter would need, it's Raisel.

But, I'd rather have him healthy and closing games then sitting on the DL

Tonight's Joe Nuxhall Star of the Game is Raisel Iglesias, who entered the 8th inning with no outs and two on with the tying run on deck, and pitched 2 perfect innings of relief with 2 K's to earn the save.

I'm just glad he's healthy enough to do the games. Another SS turned CF was Mickey Mantle.

Mickey Stanley turned SS from the outfield for the 68 World Series.

Stephenson getting out of the bases loaded jam was as good as it gets. No one else could have done that better. Hopefully he's turned the corner and can be in the rotation for the next few years. Those walks are the only concern.
