Nothing about the outfield configuration makes sense to me here.

Yeah, that outfield is just weird, unless the team has been completely convinced that Ervin cannot play CF. I didn't see anything in the past couple days that would show that though.

Three good athletes in the OF. Not a CF in the group. Really not even a good RF. I think they just want to get a look at Schebler in CF and like Kivlehan's arm the best for RF. Still probably better than Dunn, Griffey and Conine out there.

Brandon "Finding" Nimmo makes a nice diving play to rob Cozart in the first.

Reds go 1-2-3

LOL, holy outfield defense Batman.

Why on earth isn't Ervin in center field? Bryan Price is infatuated with playing guys out of position. I guess we just have to keep extending him until we win the World Series.

In my recent Bryan Price quote post I forgot to include the one where he talked about what a great centerfield Brennan Boesch was playing in spring training.

Chris Welsh with the news flash of "expectations are different in New York than in Cincinnati".

Ya think?

1-2-3 inning with a K for Homer in the 1st.

Scooter with a broken bat single into left to start the second.

Maybe you guys just over-rate Ervin out there. It's not like they had him playing CF in AAA. Seems like they already gave up on the idea of Ervin in CF. Heck, they had a second baseman playing out there in AAA instead of Ervin.

I am telling you, Chris Welsh reads the game threads. He just tossed out a "Finding Nimmo" on the air.

This has happened several other times over the years too. That, or I'm not the only one who thinks of this stuff. Nah, he reads the Game Threads.

Hey Chris!

Suarez walks. 2 on, nobody out for Schebler.

Scooter on to third on the wild pitch. 1st and 3rd now.

1-0 Reds on a sac fly by Schebler.

Suarez somehow also advances on to second base on a weird throw by Aoki.

Tucker gets the IBB then Homer slaps a little single into RF.

Bases loaded with Ervin up, 2 outs.

Ervin pops out. Threat over.

1-0 Reds after 1.5

Nimmo K's, 2 K's so far for Homer.

Lagares makes a quick out. 2 down.

If the Reds won't fire him, could they at least ban him from Spring Training?

Seems to me like the Reds give up plenty of HR's after walks.

It's a sign of having a bunch of pitchers who aren't very good. It's improving though. Just need a couple of higher quality additions to the mix with less innings to the fodder guys.

looked like a case could be made that Schebler struck out 3 times in that at bat

Homer looks really 'normal.' I'm cautiously optimistic he can contribute next year.

This pitcher is throwing garbage. Just like Randy Jones used when he tied the BRM up and had Rose give up switch hitting.

How could Bryan Price have known this would happen though, it's only what's happened every single time he's sent Homer out for the 7th this season.

Both runs wind up scoring after Lorenzen relieves Homer.

You mean to tell me that a guy who's barely pitched in 3 years and has a 7+ ERA this year might struggle going deep into games?

Well, clearly Bryan is going to have to "teach" Homer how to go deeper.

6-1 Mets

Lorenzen is bad but a real CF'er probably has that ball.

Sweep the Brewers and then come into the big city and stink it up against this triple A collection.

one run in 13 innings against a guy with an ERA over 5.00 who walked 9 batters over that stretch.

Bryan just has to go for 7 innings out of his starters and then brings in Lorenzen. Isn't doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result the definition of insanity?

Tonight's Joe Nuxhall Star of the Game is Mets C Kevin Plawecki, who was 1-for-4 with a 2-run HR.

That describes me getting a little enthusiastic for this organization on those rare occasions when something good happens.

Who cares. They are not trying to win so what does it matter how Price handles his starters. What's pathetic is the hitting of these pitchers.
