I don't see anything wrong with the lineup, I kinda like it.

Today I'm watching the TV broadcast, and yesterday I listened to the radio broadcast as I was travelling home from Athens after watching the Bobcats thrash the Kansas Jayhawks.

I have to say that my preferred broadcast duos are:

TV: Jim Day & Chris Welsh
Radio: Jim Kelch & Jeff Brantley

I'm ready to completely separate from the Brennaman clan.

Took 23 pitches but a scoreless first for Bob with 2 strikeouts and a walk.

It looked like his FB was staying high and to the right consistently. I've heard people say that was not finishing. I think that means following through. Let's see if it is corrected next inning.

What's with some of the Reds wearing white shoes?

Not a fan. I think that the team shoe should be the same color. Maybe not the same manufacturer, as I realize that players have shoe contracts, but the same color (including trim).

Jim Day is likable enough but his PBP chops need improved. Odd phrasing and pacing and a lack of smooth transitions to Welsh. I'd prefer bland Kelch to Day right now but let's see if Day can improve.

I have Kelch working radio with Brantley because he and Cowboy seem to have good chemistry. JD is inexperienced, but he comes across as sincere, and I think he will improve.

Suarez has done a great job improving his OBP this year but he has been swinging at some bad pitches lately. Like Duvall bad. Just uncharacteristic for him.

I think he is deserving. Far and away best caught stealing in NL and that with young, inexperienced pitchers most of the way. High on my list of extension candidates.

The Reds' TV crew only ranks about average when compared to other MLB clubs I've watched. Lots of bad ones out there. On radio, since I cannot see the action, I don't like Kelch because his voice just irritates me so much, I can't listen, and although Brantley is improving his pbp, he is best as a color man. Marty is Marty, but I really know what's going on in the game when he's not pontificating about one thing or another. I enjoy guys that entertain me because I'm only listening when I'm in the car. John Sterling of the Yankees ranks high for me too.

Robert Stephenson ERA against everybody else: 5.40I've been saying this for awhile. Do not judge Reds pitching when it comes to the Pirates. They're averaging less that 2 runs offensive this month and barely 2 since the middle of August. Yes, the kids look good, but consider who they're playing.

We've heard that refrain before. After last season, everyone was saying that after the way they closed out 2016, they were going to be much improved. Well, they are currently looking to finish within three games of last year's record.

No, what I'm saying is that we should expect some kind of unanticipated health/injury problems to rear their heads (especially since they have been such a common occurrence in the last three years), instead of blindly thinking that everything is going to be rainbows and unicorns.

And a year from now after they don't spend any $ over the winter, and Castillo, Raisel and homer miss most of the year with injuries, and Bryan gets extended another year despite another 70 win season, the same crowd will be telling us how good things look for 2019.

Nobody's "tossing out good performances by the kids". But they're going to use those good performances as an excuse for not spending any money this winter. And then they'll sell it to the eternal optimists.
