Cubs pretty much have the division wrapped up so no use in rooting against them now. Hopefully they will knock the Cardinals out and the Reds can return the favor to the Brewers from 18 years ago.

It's kinda tough with the starters we're throwing out there these days. These guys aren't major league starters and arguably not even AAA.

This has the makings of a 50-pitch 1st inning.

Kid needs to learn to turn off his brain out there.

THom is wrong again.

He says that Rookie Davis is the only player from the Aroldis Chapman trade who has made the big leagues. Rookie is actually the third player from that deal to play for the Reds. Caleb Cotham played last year, and is already retired. Tony Renda also played last year, and is now in the Diamondbacks organization (I think).

Kid, just do what Tucker tells you to do.

Screw that. Do what the Reds front office tells you what to do. Worked for Votto.

THom pontificating on how wonderful it would be if the NL Wild Card Game would be Milwaukee at Arizona, so that Craig Counsell could return to where he won a World Series as a player.

Deck certainly hasn’t been effective tonight, but the home plate ump isn’t doing him any favors. Several close pitches called balls since the very first batter.

Gennett error and it’s now a four run Brewer lead.

Tough night for McGuire.

Votto didn't do much to help Scooter on that throw - wasn't that far astray and some better footwork could have saved the error.

Reds cut the lead to 4-2 and had the tying run on 2nd with no out, and got neither runner in, and now back to being down by 4.

It's just bizarre to me how people were still insisting "Winker can't hit HRs" at the same time we were seeing Scooter Gennett hit 4 in a game.

I was hoping to see one more before the season ended.

2 in 347 MILB PA this year.
7 in 127 MLB PA this year.

I mean I know the ball is juiced but that's substantially substantial!

Never thought of that, so you're saying balls aren't juiced at AAA.

the home run explosion hadn’t yet extended to the upper levels of the minor leagues, which use balls manufactured in China that differ from the Costa Rica–made MLB ball

I'm giddy about Winker. Hasn't really had any hot/cold stretches that I've noticed. Just a solid major league bat.

Excited and hoping to see him full time all next season.

With tonight's loss, the Reds clinch last place in the NL Central for the third year in a row. (Actually, it was clinched before the game was over when the Pirates defeated the Orioles.)

This marks only the second time in Reds history that they have finished last in three or more consecutive seasons. (1931-34)
