They tried it right after the Bruce trade for a game or two and Duvall didn't like it and I think had an ugly play out there as well. Keep in mind this is a former corner infield guy so it's a minor miracle he can play a solid LF to begin with.

I'd just hope that maybe he would have grown more comfortable with the outfield in general that he'd be able to move. I think he's got the best arm out of the Duvall/Schebler/Winker trio.

At 29 (?) Duval is probably not viewed as a long term solution in the outfield. Perhaps it makes sense to keep him where he feels most comfortable, where he's played at a gold glove level defensively with an eye towards flipping him at the trading deadline.

Peraza doubles, heads to 3rd on a passed ball, Senzel sac fly to center to score, Reds up 1-0. Votto then looks at 7 pitches and walks. His patience is uncanny

Scheb singles to right center, Votto to 3rd

scheb takes 2nd, Duvall walks. Juiced w/1 out for Dilson

RBI single for Dilson. Still loaded with Tucker up

Tucker grounds out to 2B. One run in. Reds up 3-0, runners on 2nd and 3rd with Ervin to the dish

Phil Ervin triples off the wall, 2 runs come in. Reds up 5-0

Pitching change

Sweeney walks, Peraza grounds out. Headed to the bottom of the 1st.

Sir Nick gaps a stand up Double to start the 2nd inning.
Votto seeking his first hit of the spring....takes strike 3.
Schebler not seeking his first hit (of the game or spring) ...hits one out to left :jump::jump:

2 run shot, 7-3 good guys

Duval ground out to 2nd for out #2
Dilly Dilly Herrera, shoulder and all ... picks up an infield single to third (funky spin on the grounder past the 3rd bagger)
Dilson steals 2nd base
Tucker drives one deep, 2 run shot. :jump::jump:

9-3 good guys

Ervin steps up to the plate... walks on a 3-2 count
Another pitching change for the Sox
Sweeney steps to the plate for the 2nd time in 2 innings....grounds out to 1st

What's Up Reds Fans!!!
First time here this Spring...

I'd just like to say if I were Reds manager, THIS would be my lineup.
With my 2018 projections.

1. Scooter 2B .270/20HR/60RBI
2. Suarez 3B . 265/25HR/70RBI
3. Votto 1B .315/30HR/100RBI
4. Duvall LF .260/30HR/100RBI
5. Schebler RF .250/25HR/75RBI
6.Mesoraco C .285/20HR/65RBI
7. Winker CF .290/20HR/55RBI
8. Peraza SS .295/5HR/20SB (Until Senzel is ready, then move Suarez to SS)

BENCH BULLPEN ROTATION

Hamilton RP Lorenzen 1. Disco
Peraza (After Senzel is ready) RP Stephenson 2. Castillo
Tucker RP Romano or Amir 3. Homer
D. Herrera RP Hernandez 4. Finnegan
Ervin RP Hughes 5. Amir or Romano
Revere LP Peralta
LP Reed

I know the 1st thing you see is no Billy starting, fact is Hamilton needs to be traded, or utilized as an awesome bench weapon.
While his defense is GG caliber, his OBP is no where near top of the order quality.
And with the great Joey Votto batting 2 spots behind him, you just can't have Billy at the top and expect to be successful.
Both Peraza and Billy could be 2 of the best bench weapons in baseball.
Mesoraco HAS to be your starting catcher every day he can play. He is an All Star caliber catcher. Not to mention we gotta get SOMETHING out of that deal Cincinnati signed him to. I think Winker will have a very good season.
If the rotation pitches like they can, and the 8 players I slotted into the starting lineup are fairly healthy all season, this team could win some games.
Make the Playoffs? I'll not get crazy, but you never know.
I WILL SAY THIS....if the Reds stay healthy, the only team in the Central above the Reds will be the hated cubbies.

I'd rather Suarez stay at 3rd and Senzel (if he can) take over at SS. Peraza can go into a 2b platoon/super-sub role. Schebler plays CF.

My dream lineup is:

RF Winker
SS Senzel
1b Votto
3b Suarez
CF Schebler
LF Duvall
CA Barnhart
2b Gennett/Peraza
PIT

I think Dilson will not only have to play D, but play D at more than just 2B (3B? LF?) to win a seat on the bench, IMO. That said, I love his bat when healthy and would hate to lose him. A deal maybe?
