Here's hoping Stephenson has back-to-back solid outings. Also hoping Rainey gets back on track, I think I recall he getting banged up a bit on his last outing.

Is FSO sharing the D-Back feed? When I select the FSO option in MLB TV, I get their feed.

Never mind...the announcers just stated such.

Right before they said Winkler was hitting second.

JaxRed
03-14-2018, 04:13 PM
Revere grounds out weakly to second. Announcers apologize for saying Winkler.

Winker singles to RF on sharp grounder. Jesse the speedster steals second.

Votto strikes out swinging on low away pitch.

Scooter K's.

Winkler needs to be starting in the OF and hitting leadoff or 2nd. We need to get base runners on for the true 2017 MVP. I really really like BTK but this ST he just looks awful at the plate.

Peralta doubles on 3-2 pitch to lead off.

Next hitter K's on another 3-2 pitch that he thought was a ball. (He might be right). Not exactly pounding the zone.

3-0 to Goldschmidt. 3-2 now. Been 3-2 on every hitter. K'd Goldy on a outside off-speed pitch.

Next guy grounds out. 31 pitches in the inning for Stephenson. Az announcers commenting on how slow he works.

JaxRed

He gave up leadoff single to Marte. Marte was out stealing (even though I thought he might be safe), and walk next guy. Gives up big double on 2-0 pitch. 3-0

Scooter grounds out, Suarez hits a sharp grounder that SS can't handle. And then Schebler goes yard against a lefty !!

Peraza and Tucker ground out.

Rainey in to pitch. Never seen him before that I recall. Pitching in 95-97 range. Jams first hitter into groundout.

99 MPH on pitch to Pollock. Announcers announce that Reds Spring Training hats are ugly, and that water is wet.

Pollock walks.

Goldschmidt gets away with looking at probable third strike and then flies deep to CF. Runner advanced to second and scores on oppo hit by Lamb. Played very casually by our LF.

Next guy flies to RF to end inning.

I actually had hope in Stephenson after his finish to 2017. It’s becoming apparent that he is who he is, and that’s cannon fodder.

Lesson kids: Don’t trust late August/early September numbers. They’re often fools gold.

121 innings isn't even a good sample size for a young pitcher yet you want to make a judgement based up 6-7 innings of spring training? Talk about SSS.

Every time I see Nick Senzel has been put into a game at 3B, it makes me think the Reds aren't anywhere close to committed to him playing SS on a regular basis.

I've been in move-on-from-Stephenson camp for a couple of years now and even I think the Reds not putting him in the rotation based on ST is a sorry way to run a ball club.

70+ walks in those 121 innings and more hits than innings pitched -- He's not ready imo and I'm doubting he ever will be -- I hope you're right & I'm wrong

Look, I'm not saying you're right or wrong, just that he should be given more than 6-7 innings of spring training or even 121 innings to prove himself. If he were someone with middling stuff than I would agree and say "let's move on to the next guy" but RS has some nasty stuff and I would like to see him get a legitimate chance to put it all together.

The problem is that he wasn't any good in the minor leagues either and never really earned the spot in the big leagues. He was given the spot with the "maybe pitching in the majors will magically make him better" hope a dope theory. I don't think he should be given any more big league innings at this point. He does need to prove himself - in AA or AAA. when he does, then give him a real shot.

I don't think anyone has said 6 or 7 innings this year proves he's never going to make it. --- He does have @750 innings in --- 627 minors & 121 majors --- and he's walked @350 in those innings -- I'm just not seeing the needed improvement to want to have him to be counted on -- I'm ready to see him off to Louisville and see if he gets it together before his options run out
