We know Homer is getting the pill to face Max Scherzer from the Nats, opening pitch @ 4:10

Some rain in the forecast so we'll see how that plays out. Lineups, officially haven't been released that I know of.

Hopes spring eternal.


err.... can someone switch the title to 3/30? Guess they are pushing back opening day, a day. Is this an early April Fool's joke? Seems awfully early to be postponing a game, or have our meteorological prognostications advanced that far in the last week?

I’m not mad or upset at all. I do like that “you can’t have lefty lefty back to back in middle of order” is now over.

I’m not going to argue with anyone about the lineup though. I just want the Reds to play well and win. For many reasons I remain highly skeptical....but each and EVERY game I will be rooting for a Reds win.

Schebler had a great AB. What was truly impressive is that after Scooter's amazing AB, Schebler did not let Scherzer off the hook by swinging early in the count. He took the first 3 pitches and 4 of the first 5. Contrast that with Barnhart who then followed up two great ABs by swinging at a borderline strike that Gameday has as just off the outside corner. Not his pitch at all. At least restrict your swing there to a meatball. But instead he chases a pitcher's pitch and he gets into a defensive count and can't battle.

Of course but the concern is that invariably if you're not getting more swings and misses (and subsequently strikeouts) than more balls are gonna start falling in. Think of Mat Latos the other year with the White Sox where he had a minuscule ERA in April that blew up because he was throwing 90 mph fastballs that weren't getting any whiffs.
