I think this is probably perfect. I was afraid Hamilton would play everyday to showcase him for a trade, but maybe it's better to hide him in hopes of a trade.

I also think Barnhart's ability to take a walk makes him more ideal at to bat directly in front of the pitcher instead of Peraza. Peraza is more prone to swing at junk outside of the zone while the opposing team pitches around to get to the pitcher.

I started the thread that asked "if all the 4 outfielders are equal, would Price be able to sit Billy." So I am impressed that he did this, and if this game is a tight one, I would hope to see Billy employed as a pinch runner/defensive replacement.

Price has shown me a little both days.

With Billy Hamilton. not starting the 2nd game of the season.........I'm hoping this signals that Billy will be traded during the season..........Billy would be a good addition to a big-money team headed to the playoffs......Billy simply can not hit, and can't even bunt his way on base enough.

Literally nobody has said Duvall is worthless. My point, if it wasn't obvious, is that Thom's grating "He hit 30 HRs and knocked in 100" that he's said multiple times now is obnoxious because it was one game. It was not a big deal that Duvall was on the bench. Chris Carter hit 40 HR with 94 RBIs in 2016 and didn't have a job the next year.

And like I said, I'm willing to give the experiment a chance.

But there's also some risk here. You've got a young pitching staff and you're putting them at a disadvantage by playing a guy out of position at a premium spot like CF.

Now I suppose it's possible that Schebler's bat is worth it - I mean we did deal with Choo in CF for a year, although he got on base 300 times, so I'm not totally crapping on the plan.

But it's not as I there's no risk with this. If they don't want Hamilton in the lineup (and I wouldn't blame them), I'd rather they swing a trade for an actual CF.

But if it works out I'll be as happy as anyone.

All Thom did was compliment Duvall for his power numbers. Not sure why that should cause a reaction, unless you have some problem with home runs or RBIs.

Have we reached the point where any benign mention of traditional stats like home runs or RBIs (or Duvall) requires a rejoinder?

Winker has fanned four times. Hitless for the young season. And he’s got the lefty-righty advantage over these pitchers, which Peraza does not.

Everything is not alright, but I did predict them for 74 wins in the main board thread and nothing yesterday or today changes that. What really stinks is that Peraza is good at putting the bat on the ball. If he'd show a propensity to take a walk or three, pitchers would have to bring the ball closer to the plate, which would actually make it easier for Peraza to square up the pitch and drive it somewhere.

I think you have to look at the long game and take Peraza and even Gennett out of the equation. Senzel is very unlikely to be a big league SS. He could, however, be a big league 2B. Maybe he plays SS for part of this year for the Reds but getting him reps at 2B makes sense because that’s the position he’s most likely to stick at in the bigs if 3B is out of the equation.
