Wow, that’s a terrible line up. No pitcher, for sure outs in Hamilton, Peraza, Gennett as of late, and Ervin. What’s the spread on the game? If you want easy money bet on the Phillies because it is looking like a 10 plus run win for them.

What's wrong with Winker?

I hope he wasn't scratched as a manager decision solely (as opposed to because ill) because Lively has huge issues with left-handed hitters. In an ideal world, you stack the line-up against Lively with as many lefties as you can find.

I’m no scout, but to me every pitch Reed throws looks like it should get blasted. They all catch too much of the strike zone (especially his slider), every fastball he throws looks like a meatball to my naked eye. Or he’s doing that thing where he slingshots all his pitches into the dirt in the RH batters box.

Thoughts on Reed so far:

Much more poised than I remember. After an error and a HR he came back and threw 4 really nice pitches to Franco. He looks confident.

Command is still a huge issue, his pitches are effective but he is rarely close to Tucker’s glove.

The HR to Hoskins was a meat ball. The HR to Kingery was a great hit by Kingery, pitch was down and in to the corner of the zone.

He started throwing more changeups and that pitch is really effective so far. He needs to throw it so ppl can’t gear up on his fastball.

Price takes a lot of heat for that, but I also hang that L on Williams too for letting him stay up that long in the first place.
Totally agreed. Price may have delivered the beating but Williams enabled it and is liable for more blame in my opinion.

The guy is supposed to be running a rebuild based around young pitching and allows one of the Crown Jewels from the Cueto trade to get absolutely mercilessly beaten down game after game. Just so unacceptable.

I think the slider is an above-average pitch against lefties. We don't expect RH starters to get LH hitters out with their slider though. He's gotta have something else against RH hitters or they'll sit on the deceptive fastball and clobber it.
