I feel like having him bat down lower in the lineup balances it out a bit. yesterdays bottom half of the lineup was dreadful.

Maybe, to me the best thing to do with a guy making his debut is to put him in front of the best player on the team so he doesn't get pitched a bunch of slop.

Wishful thinking.. Sadly, I bet Price makes it through the year. Probably is back next year too. He's a good little puppet for DW.

Doesn't batting Peraza 2nd kind of negate the "Advantage" of hitting Billy 9th? (Replaces Billy at the top of the lineup with another low OBP, albeit 2nd)
They probably ought to go back to batting Votto #2 , move everyone else up a notch and cluster all the bad bats at the bottom.

'Oh well, looking forward to the daily kick in the teeth as a Reds' fan

I was actually thinking that I like Peraza as a 2 hitter in theory. While he and Hamilton share an affinity for making outs, he's a little different. He doesn't strike out as often, so maybe having him behind a high OBP guy in Winker and ahead of Votto will lead to more fastballs and fewer breaking balls that he's been chasing out of the zone.

is the definition of a change-up simply five-eight miles slower than the pitcher's fastball. I ask because Bailey gave up a HR last game on a 89 mph fastball. So would Greene's changeup be 93+?

I actually always liked Homer, he is very fan friendly, all indications are that he is very down to earth, plus he was both drafted & developed by the Reds.
And he is a solid #3 when healthy.
But...I know it's like beating a dead horse or crying over spilled milk..
Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier just signed with the Mets for a combined $56 Million over 5 years.
Which would equal $64.5 million over 6 years if Frazier had signed for 3 years.
The Reds paid Homer $110 Million for 6 years including the $5 Million dollar buyout the Reds will obviously exercise in 2020.
So the Mets get BOTH Frazier & Bruce who we traded because we couldn't "afford" for about HALF what we are paying Homer Bailey.
Meanwhile Johnny Cueto has continued to put #1 type numbers, and he just signed for about exactly what the Reds gave Homer.
I'd even rather have Leake for the $80 Million 5 year deal the M's just gave him.
But somehow we got Homer for $110 Million. Unreal.
