Reds were hopefully a 75 win team. They had a chance to reach about that level.

They lost two starters, two main relievers, two main hitters.

Then it’s the usual starting to press after several losses. And starting against Nats pitching didn’t help.

It stands to reason they would be pretty bad. Maybe if they win a few the pressure will relieve and they will play better.

I don’t blame the cold weather at all.

Every team suffers key injuries through the season. Every team starts off against the other team's ace (unless he's injured) and #2 and #3 rotation options. You know who's job it would be to help relieve some of that pressure?

Reds didn’t suffer injuries through the season. They lost 6 key players by the first week of April. They have seven guys out at the same time. The team wasn’t that good to begin with. That’s not just a typical baseball track record, far from it.

As for your latest swipe at Price, I’ve never heard that he is a high pressure manager. Seems to be a loose club house, as far as I can tell.

Reds didn’t suffer injuries through the season. They lost 6 key players by the first week of April.

Well, we were saying all winter that of Disco, Homer, and Finnegan, the Reds should plan on at least 1-2 of those guys not recovering or being ineffective. 2 guys that missed all last season starting on the DL should not be a huge surprise.

Shackleford really is not a key player.. He would likely have been the worst pitcher on the staff if he was on the team right now.

Inglesis on paternity leave (3 days) really doesn't count.

I will give you Lorenzen and Hernandez. (Giving the Reds the benefit of the doubt that Lorenzen was not suffering a lingering problem)

So in essence, 2 relievers were unexpected on the DL. Two high risk injury players from last year did not recover by opening day.. I mean, the Reds can claim those guys were healthy on day 1 of spring training and got hurt again, but I am tired of those excuses and snow jobs.

So I will grant the Reds an excuse for the bullpen being a little bit shallow, but not the rotation.
With two key relievers hurt, the Reds should not be so desperate that they have to bring in Gallardo. That shows lack of good planning.

You skipped Suarez and Schebler. You skipped that the total number of MIA guys is seven. Seven of a 25 man roster. Six of them important players.

Reds should not have counted so much on Disco and Finnegan. But no matter how you cut it, seven guys out at once is a very deep hole for a club not expected to be that strong even at full strength.
