If he has not been DL'd yet, they will not DL him until Schebler comes back on Tuesday and they need to create a 25 man slot.

Since it’s the 20th anniversary of that magical HR chase of 1998....how about a little trivia?

Sosa and McGwire both surpassed Maris’s 61 HR.....McGwire ended with 70 and the all-time record for HR in a season, but for about 45 minutes Sammy Sosa held the all-time record for HR in a season.

What HR # above 61 was Sammy first to get to?

What incident happened that allowed Sammy to stand alone? (be it just for a few minutes)

Here’s a guess on the coaching situation.

Reds realize they will have to pay much more for a new, top notch managerial/coaching staff.

They don’t want to spend it until the the player personnel is better. So they stuck.

I know the arguments against it, not saying it works, but that’s a possible reason.

If you mean Dick Williams, he can assure the fans that the ownership and FO are deeply unhappy about this record and will take action to deal with it.

Part of rooting for a team is having hope. The fan base is losing hope. The GM should speak and give the fans a reason for hope. If he can’t give a reason for hope, then he has a major problem and shouldn’t be in this job.

“We suck. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to watch this ball club. If I were a fan, I’d stay home. I plan on getting really drunk tonight. Save your money and go watch the Dragons”.

Pressure is getting too high. They’re not going to have a choice. Have to fire the manager soon IMO.

Have to address the fans, the usual way is to fire the manager.

I haven’t been that down on Price, but I agree that it’s pretty amazing he’s still the manager. Shows some real loyalty to this guy. Very few managers could survive all this losing. Hard to conceive of it.

Here’s a guess on the coaching situation.

Reds realize they will have to pay much more for a new, top notch managerial/coaching staff.

They don’t want to spend it until the the player personnel is better. So they stuck.

I know the arguments against it, not saying it works, but that’s a possible reason.
If that's their reasoning then, my god, we're doomed.

Of course I'm not sure if that's better or worse than the other reason, which would be that they're actually satisfied with the results.

Both scenarios chill me to the bone. We are in the dark ages of Reds baseball.

Same way that guys like Francona, Farrel and Girardi get fired while guys like Bryan Price get brought back for a fifth season after losing records the previous four.

Some franchises care and some don't. I wonder which kind we are?

I assume that last sentence is simply a rhetorical thought.

They never have the lead, so that limits the opportunities for Garrett.

But if I had to address the current situation, the first thing I’d do is put Garrett in the rotation.

I’d probably put Finnegan in the bullpen temporarily pending further decisions.

You think that would be assuring the fans? The time to assure the fans was in the winter when he should have been looking for a SS, a CF option and another starting pitcher. Had he done those things, I'd feel a lot more positive about the future. Talk is cheap and firing the Manager is almost as cheap. Getting actual talent to fill the roles that need filled is the only thing that will fix this and reassure anyone.
