I hope Schebler is just being benched for providing too much offense last night and didn't tweak his nerve issue.

I hope Schebler is just being benched for providing too much offense last night and didn't tweak his nerve issue.

This is really puzzling. How can you take Schebler out of the lineup after last night? Against a rhp?

I guess since Hamilton and Duvall both got hits last night you have to play them while they're hot?
Can't have too many left handers in the line up against a right handed pitcher?
Gotta get Duvall goin?

Only reasonable answer is that he tweaked something or they're concerned about weather conditions and further injury.

Hamilton is scoring runs....don’t care if it’s just good fortune or just flat out luck. 1/3 of the lineup is not good (at least) and someone has to be the worst

From Joel Luckhaupt

With the Quackenbush DFA, every Reds RP with an ERA over 4.50 is no longer on the roster (Pennington excluded). Those pitchers account for 32 of the 47 runs allowed by the bullpen, but only 14.1 of the 76 IP.

Presumably they plan to rest Duvall tomorrow and Hamilton Thursday.

Please just DFA Gosselin and give Dixon a shot. Then when Suarez returns DFA Gossenlin's brother Pennington. I know the 24th and 25th man means little to a team with a 4-18 record. But we all know what Gosselin and Pennington bring to the table. Dixon and Blandino we don't yet know.

Billy should have tomorrow off and Duvall Thurs. Seems silly to sit Schebler after a big game. I guess no matter what though they will stick to the rotation of the 4 OFers.

Sure, but I probably wouldn’t.

This outfield rotation is already killing me. Winker LF, Hamilton CF, Schebler RF is the best lineup. Just play it.

WrongVerb
04-24-2018, 06:57 PM
So, Peraza has now gone 33 straight at bats without striking out. And that's a problem.

The batter's job is to get a pitch to drive, and drive it somewhere. The batter does this by only swinging aggressively at pitches in the strike zone and taking everything else. Joey is the master at that. The effect this has is the pitcher knows he can't throw balls because the batter will just not swing and ultimately walk to first. Thus, the pitcher has to come in closer to the strike zone in order to induce weak contact, but pitcher's aren't perfect and they make mistakes. A smaller margin for error leads to bigger mistakes, which are the types of pitches the batter can drive somewhere.

Mahle misses more bats than I expected him to.

Because you weren't thinking 2018 baseball - walk, homer or strikeout, you were used to fundemental baseball where batters actually tried to hit the ball even if it didn't fly out of the ballpark. In other words, Mahle's K rate is benefited by "velocity angle" baseball.

I haven’t noticed a difference in railing leanings myself.

Using Schebler in the lead off spot was a nice touch, though. His homer started the ball rolling. I’ll give Riggleman credit for that.

Blandino’s good hitting recently is going to keep him on the team.

That means when Suarez comes back Gosselin probably goes down to AAA with Blandino taking his spot on the roster.
