No move announced yet for Suarez. But we know its not Blandino since he is in the lineup. My guess is that Gosselin is DFA'd.

Seems like the most logical move.

Don't really like the Havoc Bros being prioritized for PAs over Suarez, or even Duvall for that matter, but I'll assume Riggleman is trying to "ease" Suarez back in.

Getting to the point where Duvall starting over Winker is frustrating - even with a lefty on the mound.

Yep it should be everyday Winker at this point. Scheb in CF and Duvall in LF would be best for the Reds now. Hamilton should be a weapon off the bench in late innings.

The #Reds have returned from a rehab assignment and activated from the 10-day disabled list 3B Eugenio Suárez (right thumb fracture), selected the contract of IF/OF Rosell Herrera from the Triple-A @LouisvilleBats and optioned to Louisville OF Phillip Ervin & IF Cliff Pennington.

He'll be in there tomorrow night and that will be 8 of 10. As President of the Jesse Winker Fan Club I can't get tooooo upset about that today. Becoming an "everyday" guy just isn't going to happen by the end of April with this stupid logjam. It's a day after a night game, I like Duvall in there...I would be quick to insert Winker if Newcomb leaves the game and it looks favorable.

I do think that Duvall (lefty-masher) should really be in somewhere against every lefty.

Good day to sit Scooter as well.

I really like that Blandino is in at 2nd today. I mentioned before the season that I’d love to see a strict Blandino/Scooter platoon. I don’t expect that to happen but seeing it today is a good sign.

I hoping they’re trying hard to trade Hamilton or Duvall. I hate seeing Schebler or Winker on the bench.

membengal

Newcomb sometimes has trouble finding the plate. Just would have liked to see Winker, noted taker of pitches, in there, that's all. Not inconsolable about it, but just noting that I hope he is crossing over to more every day option than rotational. Kal covered that he may be, which is a good thing.

I wouldn't get too frustrated.

Reds face very, very few lefty starters. Overall, they have 747 PAs against RHP this year, only 172 against LHP.

Duvall (as the others) has a very small sample against LHP this year but he has a .983 OPS against them. Traditionally much better against LHP than RHP.

One might be frustrated that Duvall doesn't sit more against RHP. But against lefties they need to load up on RH bats.

Jealous seeing the Braves getting guys like Acuna & Albies in the majors at 20-21 years old. The Reds seem to not have anyone ready to debut until 23, 24, 25 and even then they don't hit their stride for 2 or three years.

Seems Riggleman will be playing Blandino at 2b against Lhp. Think he's learning anything about the outfield rotation from these last few games?
I think Redszone's outfield rotation would be between Duvall and Hamilton. That puts Hamilton in CF most games (against rhp) for his defense. And Duvall plays against lhp with Schebler in CF for those games. Winker and Scheb become everyday players (if RedsZone were running the team)

FWIW, Winker has had fairly significant platoon splits coming up the chain. If this was a contending team, you platoon him.

But we need him to improve in this area so that he can become a legit every day player. From a player development standpoint, he should be playing every day over people that already had their chance and did not succeed with it.

I would actually be happy. Because he scores runs and he gets me RBIs ($) Hamilton by far leads this team in runs scored. Great Speed/Base-running is under appreciated (valued) by stats (well it is more of the difference between Elite,Good and Bad I think the same of defense)
