Caleb Smith is a left handed starter for the Marlins.

Smith bats right handed, but is a lefty thrower.

That’s why Duvall, a RHH, is hitting higher in the lineup tonight.

Mahle's a fine young pitcher but he's allowing too many home runs.

He's not alone, but it needs to be addressed. Maybe too many pitches up in the zone, I haven't studied it, but they need to fix this.

The first batter reached because of a mental error, but it was not officially scored as an error. The run that eventually scored shouldn’t be an “earned” run, but it will be. Just an different example of how meaningless “earned” runs can be.

No, that one's 100% on Brice.

It is, you have to cover 1st if your the pitcher. Period end of discussion.

Aside from Brice’s mental error I don’t like Votto going after a ball he has no chance for that is going literally right to the 2nd baseman. I don’t know if it is Votto purposely playing that far over or the coaching staff wanting him there...regardless it’s tough for him (the first baseman) to cover 1st base even if he doesn’t break but just maybe a step towards that ball. The ball was right to the positioned 2nd baseman and it’s a tough play for Joey to get that far to first, get his feet positioned and stretch towards that throw from where Scooter was.

Again, the blame on that play was 100% on Brice for not covering.....but I hate the set up that makes it so difficult for the first baseman to make virtually a routine play to 2nd.

I'll say something I've never said before. I switched to a hockey game. When I switch to soccer, please somebody shoot me.

D: "Shoot him now! Shoot him now!"

B: "You keep out of this. He doesn't have to shoot you now."

Eight wins. E-i-g-h-t. Count 'em.
If you were one of the lucky few to witness one of these, well, you'll have something to tell your grandkids.
Eight wins.....
