The Reds are facing Jason Vargas a lefty starter for the Mets in 2 starts this year he gave up 6 ER the last start and 9 ER in the start before that for an ERA of 16.20. If the Reds are going to win at all this week tonight is about their best hope

I wasn't as enthralled as many were with Castillo's game the last time out. Seemed like he lucked into a lot of hard outs. Let's see if that changes and he can turn it around this time.

Three things the Reds need to do to win this one:

1. Not be down 5-0 by the second inning
2. Not be down 5-0 by the second inning

and maybe the most important thing for them to do:

3. Try having a lead

One way for the Reds to enhance their game is to have an offensive player hit a ‘home run’ once in awhile.

Generally - It’s when you hit the ball over the outfield fence.

Ask the Reds pitchers about them. These “home runs” do damage quickly. It’s a tactic other teams have been using effectively.

Peralta with the sac bunt

giving him a decent pitch to bunt was a bad idea by Robles. I'd have gone outside every single pitch like strike 1. Wandy looked super uncomfortable .

I would like to see a modified DH where once the starting pitcher is pulled, you can designate a DH for the pitcher's spot the rest of the game. A starting pitcher occasionally bat and some of the bullpen guys never do. Plus i think it would cut down on a few pitching changes and speed the game up

Seems like Billy is always up with runners in scoring position with two outs and immediately flies out-makes a out anyway

Good recovery but I still think Wandy could use some time in Kentucky.

Oh and I (along with corkedbat, if I recall correctly) really wanted the Reds to pick up Paxton before he really broke out. Bleh.

Why did Castillo only throw 81 pitches? I thought he was supposed to be healthy.

Why did Castillo only throw 81 pitches? I thought he was supposed to be healthy.

He got into trouble in the 6th after being perfect thru 5.

He looked suddenly out of sync so they yanked him.

6th inning was strikeout, HR, groundout, single, full count walk, and he looked done.

When you're done, you're done.

A couple of you guys may have seen my post yesterday about wishing the Reds would take a flier on Matt Harvey.
Well, now they actually have. But I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'd rather not gave up Mes, but it does also take a chunk of change off the books.
Mes is an all star catcher when healthy, and we all know how hard good hitting catchers are to find.
I super curious to see how this plays out...especially with Harvey pitching in GABP.

I hate to say it but I think they are both toast now. I really hope I'm wrong.
