The beginning of a new week today.

Only 6 games this week.

Would like to see the improvements continue, and for me that's 3 wins. 3 wins on a West Coast trip from 6 games would be successful for any REDS' team over the last 20 years. For this team that has only won more than 2 games in a week once this year, this last week (4 wins), 3 is a very good number. It would show improvement from the standpoint of continuing the success they had last week.

So, here we go.

Go Redlegs!

Did the Reds see something that could be fixed? If so, has Harvey been receptive to making the change? If so, have they had time to implement it? If so, will the change make a difference? I'll set the bar at 5 IP, 3 ER as a reason to be encouraged.

As someone with a degree in mathematics, I get sick of THom always making disparaging comments about math, like "They told me there would be no math at this job", or "I'm glad someone else is doing the math on that." This kind of attitude is one of the reasons why young people struggle with math. From a young age they hear adults talk about how math is hard or to be avoided, so many of them choose to shut down without ever even trying to learn or succeed.

There should be a stat called "team errors"
When a ball should be caught, or a play should be made, but you can't pin the error on a particular player, such as the gift Bellinger triple, it is not fair to the pitcher for no error to be called. Normally that will go against their ERA, etc.. PLUS the hitter doesn't deserve the hit.

You get a rapport going with the runner at first and maybe they tip you off about something the pitcher is doing. It's also worth, if a guy is going good, trying to get him off his streak by asking him what he's changed or how good he's seeing the ball or something.

What a complete surprise the acquisition of Harvey has been.

(Heimlich was cruising, no hits and 7 K's through 4-1/3, then a bloop double followed by Matheson's 6th HR in 11 days since being inserted into the Cardinal starting lineup as a DH, and there's a ball-game, Stanford-2, OSU-4 through 4-1/2. Stanford's Catcher is out for the series after hurting himself on a skateboard. #1 Florida scored two in the bottom of the 9th to beat Georgia tonight. #3 OSU is 2-1/2 games behind #2 Stanford in the Pac-12 standngs and need a sweep. #24 prospect Tristan Beck is recovered after giving up the 4 early runs and giving Stanford a chance to come back.)

Maybe I was just a jerk on the baseball diomand but I've never understood the whole "chat each other up at first base" thing.

I played against a lot of guys that I was pretty good friends with but during the game they might as well have been pond scum to me. Jovial chatting was the last thing I wanted to do.

But again... maybe I was just a hot head teenager.

The dude has basically pitched 3 no hit innings. And even pitched out of a 3 base error jam with a runner on 3rd and 1 out.
I know he's on the comeback trail, but Harvey is a veteran now. The guy can pitch. He's not a wet behind the ears rookie you need to protect.
At least let him go 5 and see what happens.
