The guy had a bad inning. Hes been very good in May. Not saying hes a future ace but even the best guys give up runs sometimes.

Sal's problem which Welsh somewhat alluded to was his pitch mix. I dont believe he threw one pitch for a strike in that inning that wasn't a fastball. That's not gonna work. He was much better against the Mets but not so early tonight.

Yeah, really awful start for Sal. Couldn't locate anything effectively and the giants made him pay. That 1-2 pitch was amazingly bad.

Tough to pull a pitcher after 2.1 innings, but I would have had them out of there after the second inning. Saving the relief staff, I guess, but with the game pretty much over, you can look back and see that he should have got him out of there.

According to Baseball-Reference.com, Winker has never played 1B at any level.

Duvall, on the other hand, is making his 151st career appearance at 1B (all levels).

I don’t consider myself a Marty fan but I put him on the other day when grabbing a bite to eat during the game and I’ll take him talking about stuff from 1974 any day over Thom’ms nonsense.

Still I hope they do boot Thom to radio so I don’t have to hear him anymore

Peraza's kind of hard-wired. He got here by swinging at everything and he's likely to keep swinging at everything until there's a serious cost for taking that approach (like his career is on the line).

Honestly I think he'd be a great utility player. He has some good skills but nothing worthy of a starting position.
