And no, THom, there wasn't going to be a play at the plate even if Schebler doesn't bobble that ball. Desmond runs well and would score easily.

so the solution to the lack of offense from the outfield is to stop putting pressure on them?

Tom Servo
06-06-2018, 07:49 PM
Brantley pointing out the issues with the batting order. I think the solution is to stop trying to shuffle Winker and Peraza and Barnhart up top and just start stacking your best hitters to give them the most ABs. Scooter leadoff, Suarez second, Votto third, etc.

Peraza ties up the game with a single.

I think the ingredients are there for Romano to have success. He's a guy who, ideally, wouldn't have been pitching in the majors until about another month from now, instead of having debuted back in April 2017.

But you can't keep sending him out there, this is 5 straight just awful starts. The plug really should have been pulled after 3.

Thom, Just hates Votto. He don't even try to hide it. But he loves to say Scooter has 43 RBI'S. 43!!!!!
Thom could care less that Votto is hitting in front of him getting on base. And for the most part what ever two that has been hitting, one and two in front of Votto hardly ever gets on, so Votto can get those famous RBI'S that ole Thom is in love with.
Sucks that I have to mute the TV by the 2nd inning every time Thom does a game.

I'd give Romano another cycle with AAA, then the bigs again. But if he's not successful as a starter after another cycle, I'd make him a reliever.

I see Sal's stuff as borderline for a starter in today's game, sometimes it plays up, sometimes it doesn't. This year it hasn't.

As a multi-inning reliever he might add a little velocity which might help. He could alternate a bigger fastball with his sinker.

I like this group of REDS, but you can't have them playing under conditions where a Starter is giving up a run per inning. That's just asking for too much.

Management/Ownership has made positive strides since the firing of Price. Their new pattern has them replacing Romano for his next Start so the rest of the team has a chance. Good luck to Sal on improving himself during this next opportunity.

They double switched Lorenzen into this game to allow him to pitch 3-4 innings. (Only worked two, then they hit for him.) He threw 4 last time.

Lorenzen is a seasoned pitcher, they can get him up to 6 innings fairly quickly. Just have to hope he stays healthy.
