The schedule says the Reds have to play. So they are. It would be nice to get six innings out of a starting pitcher for a change too. Looks like a Sunday special lineup today.

Why is the pitcher not given a sacrifice for the RBI? When there is 1st and 3rd and the pitcher bunts and the runner on first goes to 2nd and the runner on 3rd stays put, he gets a sacrifice. In this case he got one runner moved up, the most important one and no sacrifice?

- - - Updated - - -

Yes, they challenged it, and the call was upheld.

After the review the ump came out and motioned out at 2nd, but did not motion safe at 1st. So that part must not have been challenged.

Because he himself was not out. You don't get a SAC for giving up one baserunner to advance another. You must give yourself (the batter-runner) up to advance the baserunner(s).

Baseball is hard, hitting is the hardest part.

But for god sakes at what point do you understand that a good relief pitcher isn’t going to throw a fastball down the middle when it’s 0-2 or 1-2 or maybe never. How can these players not understand what pitch is very likely coming and know what’s definitely not coming.

If any base is open the great relievers simply do not throw fastballs down the middle ever....let alone 0-2 or 1-2.

I'm just dropping in for my daily announcement that I hate the 2018 Cincinnati Reds and wish the ownership would fire all relatives involved in running this minor league operation.

Hey, did you know that Thom was puzzled by LeMahieu's bunt? Just letting you all know, if you didn't already.

Brantley keeps egging him on, too. Cowboy has to entertain himself somehow this season, I suppose.

This game is going to go on forever anyways...the next 3 Reds should just troll Thom with consecutive bunts.

I think Cowboy and Chris both like to do that.

I remember last year when Chris asked him if he was the kid in Little League who stood out in RF picking dandelions and watching airplanes fly by.

3 of 6 from RF.

4 of 6 from LF, including a walk-off 2-Bagger.

And This One Belongs To The Reds!

I've been waiting a long time for a Winker Walk Off!
I followed him all throughout the minors and still think he can be an all star one day.

I just thought when Winker finally made his mark, he would be the good young rookie contributing on a contending team.
Oh well, but it's a shame the Reds are wasting Votto's best years, continue to think rookie starting pitchers are the answer, and blow trades.
I can't wait to see who burns us for Scooter.

I'd love to know how the Yankees, Red Sox, etc, are able to contend every single season, but still able to draft Judge, Sanchez, Andujar, Benentindi, Betts, Xander, and then on top of that able to trade for Clint Frazier, Gleyber Torres, and so on. It's crazy.

It’s not been a great season for Winker but he’s been hot this last week. I for one am willing to give our most hyped hitting prospect this decade (per Senzel) a little longer than 3 months to prove himself. Good for Jesse.

The Torres answer is simple. The Reds gifted the Yankees the player they used to acquire him.

Deep pockets do allow the Yankees and Red Sox the ability to hire the best scouts and the best minor league instructors. It would be interesting to know the amount of money the Red Sox and Yankees spend on scouting and minor league staff compared to the Reds.

That's no excuse though, the Indians and Cardinals seem to do a pretty good job of drafting and developing players without super deep pockets. Basically I'm convinced the Reds are severely lacking throughout their minor league and scouting organization. Now whether that is because they don't spend money, they spend it on the wrong scouts/staff, or they bungle it because of a lack of a cohesive plan is beyond my understanding.

I would have left Scooter in at 2B, and moved Dixon to LF. Hughes would have gone into Duvall/Winker's #6 spot, which is last up.

Maybe not LOL.

Got home in time to watch the last couple of innings. Its always good to see a walk off home run. Not much better than that. You have to savor these moments this season that has little joy to it.
