IMHO the best lineup available with this group --- I could see a quibble about Dixon in LF from some --- at least there's not two guys on the interstate in the line up today

There is nothing positive to say about this team, so I don’t get banned again I guess all I can say is being the lovable loser has its positives, since neutral fans cheer you on. Then again I would rather be a hated winner then a beloved loser but during the summer I guess we just need to get used to being the lovable loser.

It’s fairly remarkable that people who own a Major League franchise could be so completely and utterly inept at putting even mediocre pitching on the field. Not asking for ‘94 Braves or ‘18 Astros. Just not a total embarrassment. And that’s what it is nearly every day this team takes the field.

It would be nice to do but we have no one to replace him. I can not believe how all the young starters have virtually gone into the tank except Mahle. Well at the same level in AA last year Mahle had better numbers than Castillo so maybe we should not be surprised.

I still remember when I asked Dick in that AMA last summer what they were going to do to correct the failure to develop their young pitching, and he replied that they were Actually Doing Fine and nothing should change and that we just needed to be patient

That was the first time I got the sinking feeling the Reds might truly be screwed for a long time.

I said this on Twitter but it's simply breathtaking, because these aren't just Jon Moscot/Daniel Wright/Rookie Davis guys. You know why those guys get lit up, because they can trick some minor league hitters but don't have the stuff to fool big leaguers. But by and large these are guys (Castillo, Finnegan, Stephenson, Reed, Garrett, Romano, Mahle) with pure ability and stuff, and the Reds are failing with every single one of them. Our big success story right now, Mahle, is still carrying a rough 1.427 WHIP so far this season.

Yeah I have no idea what’s going wrong. I don’t think th organization has turned over that completely since Cueto/Bailey/Leake were all doing well together, so I don’t understand how they could botch every single guy since then seemingly. Because I definitely don’t think it’s just GABP, as much as it doesn’t help.

Most these guys look like they *should* be doing well just from the eye test too, most notably to me Cody Reed.

Above all the Cincinnati Reds are a small market team.
Leake took the organization to arbitration in 2015 and was awarded $9,000,000.
The organization of the Cincinnati Reds made their decision to sign Bailey and the Canadian, Votto to almost league maximum contracts and now feeling the effects of those contracts.

How does those contracts affect the Reds inability to develop starters. Every other team does it.
The Rays are in way worse position than the Reds since they are in the same division as the Red Sox and Yankees plus two other large markets and they are fairing way better than the Reds.

Castillo up to 110 pitches, but IMO was worth it to leave him out there.

Had a bad beginning, settled down in the middle innings and looked great at the end.

10 Ks now.

I assume that’s it for him, but despite the mistakes I’m happy with the outing. He hung tough, didn’t faulter at 90 pitches, and was throwing well when that inning ended.

His last 2 starts would have been very different if not for 2 batters with the bases loaded coming through. Atleast when he looks good he looks very good. Just think maturity will come slower with him then we had hoped.

Same here. It's about 175-180 miles each way from where I live. In the last four years I've seen only four games, and only two were in Cincinnati.

In 2015 I went to one Reds game, in Detroit. I was in Michigan visiting friends, and my buddy was able to get free tickets through his work.

In 2016, I went to two games in Cincinnati. One was the day they retired Pete's #14 (though that isn't why I went), and I got the tickets at a discount from someone who couldn't go and wanted to recoup some of his investment. The other game was in September vs. the Cardinals as a guest of friends, who wouldn't allow me to pay.

In 2017 I went to one game, in Cleveland. It was part of a bus tour with friends who were Tribe fans.

I haven't been to a game this year, and I don't anticipate going to one.

I remember a pitcher named Jose DeLeon on the Pirates who had peripheral numbers that were a baseball prospectus WD. But he found ways to lose and give up runs and never get better. Castillo reminds me of that right now.

C'mon Tucker. Thought he might struggle moving to the 2-hole, but felt just as good about him excelling hitting in front of Votto. It's been a disaster as he's dropped 100 points from his OPS. He's going to have to move back down in the lineup. We've run out of places in the bottom of the order, especially when Hamilton starts.

They still have problems with or a lot of issues with runners on 3rd and less than 2 outs. Maybe it’s the ballpark and they expect like Coors for those early ten-fifteen years that the hitting could actually overperform the horrible pitching and they can outslug people on almost an every other day basis.

The spousal unit and I have the company seats tomorrow. One can only hope they have a good day. But the beer will be cold and the tickets are free. Not a bad day.

Hope you have a good day but 400 mile round trip means I have to really want to go

Yep. Of the last four games I've been to, two were free tickets, a third was discounted tickets, and the bus tour to Cleveland was a group rate for club seats, and I didn't have to drive.

Ah. Yep, you would really need to be motivated to do that.

I’ve got about a 20-25 minute drive and a good place to park. The years when they were in playoff contention, I looked for every opportunity to get down to the ball park. I couldn’t wait. But now it takes free tickets. I spend my discretionary income elsewhere.

I would think that besides us fans being frustrated a guy like must be also. He's got to feel like he is getting kicked in the junk on a daily basis.

he is not getting any help from the FO

If it doesn't, then I officially call the whole Toyota giveaway a scam, just like the LaRosa's 11 K pizza thing that you can't redeem until the next day.

Gameday shows the 2nd pitch hitting Dixon in the private parts,....and he swung at it.

ugh Dixon gave it a ride but not quite enough

And of course the Toyota thing is ruled not to count lol what a scam

It's a scam.

Remember, Honda is built in Marysville, which is Reds country.

Not surprised they call the blue not part of the sign but I wonder if Toyota won’t change that

The PR should outweigh any cost

I like that Riggleman tried Tucker in the 2-hole. Tucker couldn't handle it. I like Riggleman because I know he'll recognize this and make a change.

My lineup for upcoming games: Schebler CF, Votto 1b, Suarez 3b, Gennett 2b, Winker Rf, Duvall Lf, Peraza SS Barnhart C, Pitcher

Subaru is built in Lafayette, Indiana. I assume that's as much REDS' country as anything, too.

So support the local economy. If you're going to buy a Japanese car, buy Honda!

Wouldn't be surprised one bit if Riggleman doesn't agree with you by Tuesday.

It’s what happens when the kids have all graduated from college and weddings are done. It’s remarkable how much money gets freed up when your kids are off the books.

If a World Series Championship was on the line..
Game 7, tied 1-1, bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, 2 out..

Who would you want at the plate? No bias.

Reds fan or not, I would take Votto.
Trout if it is a left handed pitcher.
