Schebler grounds out to 2b on the second pitch (on a nice play), Tucker hits a comebacker to picther on 1st pitch. Need Joey to work the count a bit.

Edit: He did, and drew a walk.

First batter hits a liner to Winker that he gets a bad start on, and it falls in for a hit. Probably should have been caught.

Next batter slices one to the line that Winker lumbers to and does not get caught. Feel pretty sure Duvall would have had that one.

Reds were playing back and third hitter hits grounder to Scooter and the run scores.

Castillo walks next guy to put men at first and third one out.

Castillo K's Dickerson on a high 95 MPH fastball.

Bell grounds out weakly to 3rd.

Inly one runs scores, but it should have been a 1-2-3 inning.

Thought that first one should have been caught, looked bad. Second one I've seen Duvall play the ball the same way on, I don't know if any of the three corner guys catch it from where Winker was positioned.

Luis limits the damage to a run.

After Suarez hit a bomb for a homer on pitch 12, Winker bunts against the shift. Pitcher got there in time but couldn't find the handle and Winker is safe. Peraza fouls out.

Castillo, one of our better hitting pitchers is told to bunt.... He K's and now it's Billy.

Wild pitch advances Winker.

Billy K's.

First hitter slices one to Schebler who makes a nice running grab just short of wall. Castillo then walks the number 8 hitter and the pitcher bunts him to second with 2 outs. Harrrison pops out to Scooter.

Castillo at 43 pitches thru 2 innings.

Moran homer seemed to have a nice launch angle - very high bomb to center. Followed by a double that didn’t quite have enough juice on it.

Chris says the ball is really jumping. Let’s hope it’s jumping for the Reds side too.

I haven't been there in 6 or 7 years, but I used to go over when the Reds were in town about 4 or 5 times a season. It is exactly two hours from my house (as long as you don't get caught in rush hour traffic on I-376).

Scooter leads off with a bloop. Now we need (another) blast for Suarez. Nope, line out to CF. Winker lines out and Pirates intentionally walk Peraza to get to Castillo. Castillo hit a grounder to 1b but Nova boots it and we have bases loaded and 12 out and Billy up.

Billy grounds out.

Did it cross anyone else's mind that you could pinch hit for Billy?

You would like for the throw to have been earlier, so that the pitcher didn't have to catch the ball and look for the bag at the same time.

But it's a play that needs to be made.

To me Castillo just does not seem like the same pitcher as last year. It is plenty warm sp that can no longer be an excuse.

I just do not see that 98-99-100 fastball any more. I am beginning to wonder if he has a small injury that he is not telling anyone. another thing is that he does not have the same command of pitches.

It is so frustrating watch him this year.

Billy has amazing speed to track that down. But I was always taught to spin around in the OF to make that throw, rather than stopping your momentum. I admit to not having the best coaching. Any of you former players/current-former coaches have a thought on that? It seems like he would have had a better chance to get Bell if he'd done that.

You're right. For a right-handed throwing CF moving to his right, turning into the throw would be preferable to throwing against his body. But I doubt if it would have changed the result in this case.

Votto and Floro demonstrate how PFP is supposed to work.

I thought so. It's why I suggested at the beginning of the week that we claim the Mariners' Mike Morin and replace Brice with him. Morin passed through unclaimed and was sent to AAA on Saturday. Would have much rather seen him pitching for us instead of Brice. Relievers should not be given long leashes. Brice's has been too long.

I don't know that Brice ever wore the golden slipper. I will say that he's one of many Reds who really aren't major league caliber. Brice would never find a spot on the roster of a .500 MLB team

I don't know that Brice ever wore the golden slipper. I will say that he's one of many Reds who really aren't major league caliber. Brice would never find a spot on the roster of a .500 MLB team

He showed potential through the end of Spring Training last season, then proceeded to bomb in the regular season with Cincinnati. I don't know what or how he did in the Winter, but he had another decent Spring Training. But, with another flop at the major league level, it's time to move on, try to get him through waivers and DFA him. If he passes, he goes to AAA or AA. If not, no big deal.

Too many other Relievers around the leagues, via trade, pick up off waivers, our own AA & AAA pitchers, to waste more chances this year on Brice. They need to make this move Monday. That's four of the last five series where they lost the first two games of the series, four in a row if you only count 3-game series. Can't have a losing atmosphere anymore. They won the last game of the last four series, so the effort is there. Give them some help and replace Brice from a long list of candidates.
