The no-hitter ends before it can begin with a leadoff single

JaxRed

Almaora singles up the middle as leadoff hitter. Heyward grounds into a force on first pitch. And Baez does the same on first pitch.

NebraskaRed

I didn't know Jerry Lane was born in and from Pikeville. That's where I live and from.
There was a Giants shortstop by the name of Johnnie LeMaster from Pikeville that had a decent career in the Big Leagues.
LeMaster had a sports and sporting goods shop in Pikeville for years.
I want this 4 game sweep over the cubs so bad I can taste it. Big Sal is only going to get better and better.

Outings against weaker hitting teams, KC and Detroit, seem to have given Romano a dose of confidence.

He seems very much in control out there today, even though he’s given up some hard hit balls.

Would be great for him to keep it up, his ground ball tendencies make him potentially valuable at GABP.

The KC and Detroit starts giving Sal confidence. The Cubs are obviously night and day compared to the Royals & Tigers.

Ramono, Mahle, Castillo, Amir, Iggy, Disco, Hunter Greene, Senzel, Jonathon India, so much young talent. And plus getting rid of Homer.

Hopefully, over time, Romano will avoid that home run pitch. Seemed like a real cookie, a very bad pitch.

Middle innings, a few runs score, pitcher might get distracted or lose his edge.

At least Sal gave it 4 solid innings today, after two very good outings, so it’s a learning experience and get ‘em next time.

Maybe so. Outfielders lives for those WOW plays. He got a good jump (as always) got back as good as he could and timed his leap the best he could on that hard hit double.....and knowing you are going to land awkwardly going down towards ground when hitting wall makes it nearly impossible. Duvall is an elite left fielder and that pitch sucked bad.

I agree. I saw how much of a high it was when Tucker got that tag out at home to preserve the shut-out for then. But when Duvall didn't make that catch to bail him out for the 3rd out, he must have went equally down and despondent, lost his focus and started throwing meatballs.

Today and the last 3 years

I think it became obvious how bad Joey was at base-running, especially when it came to decision making and sliding, a couple years after he came up when Dusty and them were talking about him stealing more bases. I think it was maybe that same year or the next when he hurt his knee with a really bad looking slide into 3B, and after that he lost a lot of his power, especially to his favorite LCF.

Why IS Joey such a terrible base runner? He's so meticulous about his play in all other areas, but he seems like he doesn't have a clue sometimes when it comes to the bases, he barely leads off the bag, doesn't seem to watch the runner ahead of him and not sure he even looks at Billy Hatcher coaching 3rd.

Maybe he thought it was a bit outside?

On that at bat to Rizzo I can see why anyone might question the home plate ump. That second strike that was called it seemed like the umpire was trying to remember where he parked his car before deciding to call it a strike. It even confused Thom. Granted, that's not hard to do.

How bad was Bryan price for this team? I mean, damn.Just a few of us knew it from the start. He just had no baseball IQ. He had favorites who just cost the Reds wins time after time. No examples needed because it was obvious. He presided over a dead team. No fire. This team now has fire. Riggleman might be a stop gap, but he has taken this team from the dead to life.
