Why is this a thing? Guy swings at a pitch so far out of the strike zone the catcher couldn't get it so let's give him first base, lol

It's like the rule that allowed Mickelson to double-hit his ball.

You're right. The yellow patch Im seeing is just "background" coloring behind the lettering. The way the players uniform flared out when I saw it made it appear as if one of the letters had been blocked out.

But am I crazy....didnt they have a home or road uni where one of the letters was a beer mug??

I don't remember a beer mug, but I think they used to have a patch shaped like the State of Wisconsin, which might look a little like a beer mug (especially if you have been tipping back a few of them).

At the mathematical halfway point of the season:

On pace for 68-94.

Knebel has the high cheese that Reds batters can’t lay off.

Like jeffres he throws that knuckle curve for strikes.

Extrapolated over a full season Thames would hit 104 home runs with 184 RBI's against The Reds

The silly walk to Kratz was a turning point.

Definitely a loss of focus on the #7 hitter with a 2 run lead and 1 out and no one on!

I don't know, that 3-run HR which turned a 4-2 game into a 5-4 game and ultimately beat the Reds may have made a difference too.

You would think after all the HR's Thames has hit against the Reds someone could at least knock him down once. Do Reds pitchers ever do this?

Sucked.

Quit pitching lefties down and in

Was that where the catcher was located?

It won't make a difference. He has more armor than Tony Stark.
