Scooter needs to show his abilities to the Indians front office....for those wanting to trade Scooter

Remember the late 80's/Early 90's Ohio Cup exhibition game in Columbus, Ohio before the regular season started. Dibble intentally threw at a batter one year. Great memories.

Right. Pleasantly surprised they got it.

I agree. Garrett has pitched an inning or less for the last month. Now, why is it necessary to stretch him?

He should have given a new reliever a clean inning. If he wanted to try Rainey tonight, he should have done it in a clean inning.

So now, there’s more pressure on Rainey.

I must say, I’m not impressed with this bullpen usage by Riggleman.

You don’t mess around with winning ballgames. Ok, up six, you want to try Rainey for a few batters, ok.

But first Garrett for a second inning; then Rainey; why do this in a game you have won?

Mess around when you’re down five runs.

Yep. If he wanted the lefty matchups then bring in Crockett. He should be very fresh. Let Amir feel good after the nice inning.

It was 7-1. There was no reason that shouldn’t have been Crockett or Rainey. Especially when you consider Amir’s recent struggles.

To be fair. When was the last time the Reds were down more then a few runs?

Maybe Riggleman is a bit sensitive to his bullpen blowing leads!

Believe me, there will be plenty of low leverage opportunities for Rainey going forward.

This was just unnecessary, every bit of it.

He has to break that mental block. It was 7-1...been nice if he could remember how to pitch

Not disagreeing. Just pointing out that we have been playing exclusively close game for a long period of time. Rainey should have started the inning with Iglesias ready for the first sign of trouble IMO.

Man, up 7-1 and play with the pitching and it's 7-5 with the tying run at the plate. Silly, but Riggleman seems to do this once in awhile. All's well that ends well, but that was uncalled for

This is exactly the opposite of the truth. They are a rebuilding team therefore situations like the last 3 days are to be expected. Glad the offense did well enough to keep this one out of reach.

The way you finish this game is Garrett in the eighth and somebody like Hernandez in the ninth.

If you want to reach a little and give Rainey the first shot at the ninth, ok. Maybe you can save your more experienced relievers.

But this was just too much fiddling for my taste. Shouldn’t have been that close.

I don’t get that one. This might have been 8-7 Indians without Iggy.

Iggy didn’t cause the problem, he saved the game. Trade him for a haul, sure, but the Reds did win with his help tonight.

Now 9-2 vs. AL Central.

This clinches at least a .500 record vs. the AL this season.
(Correction: a .500 record is not yet clinched. I didn't realize they still have two games vs. KC in September.)

Iglesias gave up a solo HR last week. Those things happen. That's NOT what we're getting these days with Garrett. We lose this game tonight w/o Iggy

+/- 5 runs was a mop up situation, I have no problem with Rainey getting work, he should have started the 9th.

That’s fine. I still say it’s a block of sorts. Just too big of a difference 12 minutes and a few pitches later. I do agree he’s overworked a bit. I feel like he and Lorenzen pitch every night.

I’ll take 5 10-1 games to get us to the break. Pen needs it badly.

Marty just profusely apologized on air for whatever he said about Dick Williams yesterday....What is that about?

During the 2nd inning yesterday while C.Trent was in the booth, he happend to mention that Williams told the beat writers that they were gonna try pitching Homer out of the bullpen in Louisville, said he thought they should hear it from him before they saw it in the box score.

That's when Marty blew up and went on a rant because Williams didn't tell him anything about it..
