That's why I said command in the strike zone. Mahle is better at limiting hard contact. He is better when runners get on base. Castillo clearly has better stuff but if I had to take one it would be Mahle because of his mentality and toughness. Also, I think his walks will come down dramatically as he gets more comfortable in the league. Hes walking way more batters then he ever has.

I mean the problem is having him up in the first place, if he's in the bullpen you have to use him. But he wasn't ready in April and he's not ready now.

So you’re saying he’s walking more guys but somehow when he’s not walking more guys he can locate his strikes better? I’m not sure that makes sense logically. If You’re walking more guys but are throwing better strikes, I would strike that up to luck.

I've watched every start for both guys. Mahle has better control. So what he has walked a few more this year. Hes trying to be too perfect but he isnt wild. Neither guy is but when barnhart or casali call for a pich in a certain spot mahle hits that spot way more often then Castillo does. I agree on them both having bright futures.

So according to THom, attendance is down and people aren't coming to the ballpark because guys are stepping out of the batter's box?
You very well know what he's saying, why are you attempting to ignore the implication?
He's saying that people aren't coming to the ballpark because of the length of games. This is also exactly what MLB itself is claiming and has tried to speed up games in the last few years through various rule changes.
I tend to agree with Thom and believe that this should have been investigated before any 2015-2018 rule changes! Leaving the batters box has been against the rules for decades and has been ignored -players are not allowed to completely leave the batter's box during an at-bat. I think this would have sped up games quite a bit more than intentional walks or mound visit changes.

His implication is that he doesn't enjoy being at the ballpark, and he is for anything that will cut down on the length of games so that he doesn't have to endure it. I, on the other hand, enjoy every minute at the ballpark, and I don't mind the down time in the least.

He said that the Browns had only scored 17 vs. the Bengals one time in the last five or six games. Cowboy said, "What are you trying to say?" And THom said, "I don't know, and maybe it doesn't matter and people don't care."

They had only three position players on the bench, and none of them were outfielders (or first basemen). So when Votto came out, Duvall went to 1B, and someone had to go to LF.

From the highest of highs in the 9th last night.
To the lowest of lows today. Oh well. It's just 1 game.
On a different note, I'm so happy Votto was voted in by the players.
I thought Aguilar was very deserving and I'n glad he won the final vote. He deserved it.
Votto deserves it though, he should be a 9 time all star instead of a 6 time all star anyway. He's been snubbed 3 times, and twice badly.
He wasn't even an all star in his MVP year of 2010.

July 6th, 2009 - the 40-40 Cincinnati Reds and their (8-4) pitcher, Johnny Cueto, allow 10 runs in the top of the 1st inning and lose 22-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies.

I'm guessing the Indians decided to tell us what they thought of our spectacular win the night before.
Thanks to the Diamondbacks for allowing us to have the better showing on a 19 run night for opposing teams.
And hat tip to Alex Blandino for having the team's lowest ERA, with two K's to boot (small sample size notwithstanding).

Well that was ugly. At least the Rockies matched the Indians with 19 of their own. So the Reds pitching isn't alone. Just not Mahle's night. You will have a couple of these throughout any season. Also looking at Rainey's line shows he is just not MLB ready. he has a nice 24.43 ERA. Send him down and bring the next man up. Or have Blandino be the long man out of the pen. Who knew Standford Cardinal baseball could pitch?

“Blandino wasn't the only position player to pitch in Major League Baseball on Wednesday night. Daniel Descalso and Alex Avila both pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 19-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies.
Coincidentally, Blandino and Descalso both attended St. Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif.
Descalso, however, did not fare as well as Blandino, allowing four hits, a walk and three earned runs while striking out one in 2 2/3 innings.”
