Watching that induction and seeing them flash Votto’s name and stats ahead of so many of those guys in the red coats made me think about how crazy it’s going to be when Joey gets inducted.

There have been a number of moves that ownership may have dictated. A fair number, and some have worked out poorly.

But I see no reason to believe ownership is going to protect Disco.

I think Mahle is pretty clearly solid. Not his fault he had to pitch after a 3 hour rain delay last night and it inflated his ERA. There’s no reason last night shouldn’t have been postponed.

Yep I'll count Mahle as solid.

So that leave 4 slots open next year because I'm not sold on anyone else, not even my main man Luis Castillo. The noticeable drop in velocity has me extremely worried even more than the 5.50ish ERA.

This team needs more than one solid starting pitcher added.

Yep and even if Castillo is ok that's 3 spots that need to be filled.

Hamiton's inability to hit is overblown. He brings way more value with his glove, arm and legs than his inability to hit for power. His OBP is slightly below average

His defensive is more needed in a park like GABP if you are going to have Winker play in the outfield. Every out missed is magnified in GABP because of the amount of HRs

There are plenty of back up Cfers you can use Ervin and Schebler to name 2. After next year you should have Tramell ready so there is no need for a CF

Being a pro means getting yourself competitive on the second crappy night in a row. It’s not easy but you have to.

Reds are flatter than a pancake. They have the ability to do that.

He turns 28 in September and he's a career .245/.299/.331, and is actually getting WORSE. His 2016 was acceptable, but there's no real indication he can get back to that. So because he can't hit he therefore should not be an every day player in Major League Baseball.

It amazes me there is not a consensus understanding that Hamilton is a bad hitter yet.

I saw some dude on twitter non-ironically say Hamilton is the “most exciting player in baseball” the other day. Astounding.

And how much does the average Reds fan get to see Mr. Trout? I’m tuned in and enjoy watch every game on....but not sure I get to see 25 Trout at bats a season. His 9 hits, 2 HR, 2 2B, SB and a good OF play may not put him over Billy on a Reds fans list that sees him steal 50, 6 triples, 10 shake your head base running plays and numerous highlights in CF.

You do realize that it is only 7 hit between him being acceptable as a hitter and not according to your definition.
With 7 hits more his line is .250/.327/.337 (.664 ops) vs 2016 .261/.321/.343 (.663 ops)
His walk percentage is up from 7% to 10% and his iso is up slightly

It would be nice if he hit better but the team does not need that. It needs his defense and base running ability this is what makes him a 2.6 war player(per 162g) and I think war under value both of these aspects.

A couple of miserable nights of baseball so far this 2nd half. Both the weather and from the Redlegs.

A great example of how much the MLB Draft is a roll of the dice....
When the White Sox drafted Chris Sale, the very next pick belonged to the Brewers. They selected Dylan Covey who is pitching tonight vs the Mariners.

"In 2003, Maroth lost 21 games for the Tigers—the first pitcher to lose 20 or more games in a season since Brian Kingman lost 20 for the Oakland Athletics in 1980. However, he led the Tigers in wins (9) and win-loss percentage (.300) while the team set the American League record of 119 games lost (43–119)."
